For those of you who do not know, this is the way Secret Santa works: A group comes together and writes their names down on something (post-it note, index card, slip of paper, etc.). They each fold it up and mix it up. Each person must draw a name (that isn't theirs) and whoever you get, you have to get them a gift or gifts. There are three reasons why this is an awesome game to play with your friends in college!
1. You get to know your friends more than you thought!
When you find out what everyone wants, you may learn that one of your friends' favorite color is blue and she loves Twix candy bars. You probably wouldn't have known that!
2. You may need a little motivation.
The best time to do it is before exams because everyone wants to pull their hair out during exam week! Your new fuzzy socks will make you reconsider that.
3. You get more into the Christmas spirit!
Being away from home can be hard, but this game can turn your friend group into your family away from home. Coming together to open gifts and listen to Christmas music can make you feel completely comfortable. Giving gifts is a great feeling, but receiving is great, as well!
My friends and I have been doing this since Freshman year and it's been a success! Try it, you'll be surprised how much fun you have!
