Iranians are often stereotyped as only being doctors, lawyers or engineers. But they kick ass at journalism too.
1. Roxana Saberi
Roxana Saberi is an Iranian American journalist born and raised in North Dakota. She was arrested in Iran in January 2009, and imprisoned until April 2009 while translating and editing for Center for Strategic research. After her release, she recieved the Medill Medal for Moral Courage, the Illaria Alpi, and the Project on Middle East Democracy award.
2. Maziar Bahari
Maziar Bahari is an Iranian-Canadian journalist and filmmaker. He was arrested in June 2009 while covering Iran's disputed 2009 Presidential election. He was released from prison in October 2009. That year, Bahari was nominated for the Oxfam Novib/PEN International Free Expression Award. The award is given "to writers who continue to work for freedom of expression in the face of persecution.
3. Saeed Kamali Deghan
Saeed Kamali Deghan is an Iranian-British journalist. He was named 2010 Journalist of the Year at the Foreign Press Awards.
