In college, you meet a multitude of people. Some people come from different backgrounds, and some may have a similar background to you. Some of these folks may share your major and some will not. A few of them may even become your friends, and hopefully one of them is a communications media major. Having a comm. media student as a friend has its perks, and we make some of the coolest individuals around. The only downfall to having a friend who is involved with communications media is that we may or may not ruin movies for you. Just don't watch movies with us! Anyways, here are some benefits of having a communication media major as a friend.

We are creative.

Now we may not be as creative as art majors (props to them, I wish I was as creative as them), but we have some creative abilities. For example, we can use our knowledge of movies to get you out of trouble. That being said, our plans are pretty far-fetched at first, but we can usually reduce them down to something more realistic. If you need help with a project, odds are, we can figure out a way to make it creative without being over the top. Comm. media majors can do a million things to help you out with almost anything, and compare it to some sort of movie or other piece of media that we have seen.

We do some really cool things.

We create media. Posters, billboards, movies, tv shows and some of us are radio deejays! Knowing us, you probably have a connection into something big down the line. That could range from going to a movie set, to as simple as concert tickets. Every piece of media you'll see in the future is created by one of us. Every sports broadcasting or film you see will be created because of us. How cool is it to know that your friend is behind the camera, on the airwaves or the director of the next blockbuster film?

We're genuine.

Back to a more "now" notion, we are extremely honest and genuine in everything we say. Comm. media majors are used to having their things criticized, whether it be constructive or simply out of spite. Because of this, we too know how to give crticisms. We can be your biggest critic, but we are always going to be honest and genuine. Comm. media majors are so passionate about everything, and we are very much able to help you get to where you need to be.

Having a communications media major as a friend is extrodinarily beneficial to have in your life. We may not be the easiest to get along with, but we will always be loyal and have your back.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
