Happy black history month! Last year for the whole month of February, I highlighted the importance of various black individuals and how they helped us get to where we are now (https://www.theodysseyonline.com/black-history-celebration-part-1-of-5). I enjoyed learning about black history so much that I decided to commemorate this celebration annually. This week I’ve shared a few motivational quotes said by known black men and women. Enjoy!

1. "Truth is powerful and it prevails.” —Sojourner Truth

2. “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.” — Booker T. Washington

3. “Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations.”
 — Dr. Mae Jemison

4. “When you can do the common things of life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world.” — George Washington Carver

5. “Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.” — Martin Luther King Jr.

6. “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” — Jackie Robinson

7. “I am where I am because of the bridges that I crossed. Sojourner Truth was a bridge. Harriet Tubman was a bridge. Ida B. Wells was a bridge. Madame C. J. Walker was a bridge. Fannie Lou Hamer was a bridge.” — Oprah Winfrey

8. “Find the good. It’s all around you. Find it, showcase it, and you’ll start believing in it.” — Jesse Owens

9. “Racism is not an excuse to not do the best you can.” — Arthur Ashe

10. “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” — Maya Angelou

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” —(Former president) Barack Obama

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
