It’s almost here! In just a few weeks, you’ll be at home binge-watching Netflix and relaxing all day in your PJs. The Christmas tree and lights are up, but you still have deadlines and finals to finish. Here are some things to look forward to when you’re done your last final.

1. Go see Christmas lights

2. Bake cookies and other yummy treats

3. Shop for presents with your S.O. or friends

4. Have a Christmas movie marathon

5. Read a book by a fireplace

6. Make a gingerbread house

7. Pick out the perfect Christmas tree

8. Try a new holiday tradition

9. Hang out with friends from home

10. Go see a new Christmas movie at the movie theater

11. Drink hot chocolate in the snow

12. Binge-watch a new TV show

13. Blast Christmas music in the car while driving around town

14. Build a snowman (even if there's no snow, there's always cotton balls)

15. Do a random act of kindness

16. Have a snowball fight

17. Build a blanket fort

18. Spend New Year’s Eve with your S.O. and/or your friends

19. Volunteer at an animal shelter

20. Go ice skating

21. Kiss someone at midnight on New Year’s Eve (even if it is your dog)

22. Make a snow globe

23. Play a board game

24. Go on a mini vacation

25. Make a bucket list for your life and reflect on how much you’ve done so far

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots.
