For some students, high school is truly the best couple years of their lives, but that's usually not the case. For the rest of us, high school is one long awkward and challenging crying fest filled with heartbreak and drama. But I'm here to tell you it does get better; with four years out of high school under my belt, here are the top X things I wish I could go back and tell myself:
1. He isn't worth it.
2. Stop comparing yourself to her.
3. No, he is not the love of your life.
4. Your ACT or SAT score does not define you.
5. Neither does your weight or jean size.
6. Listen and respect your teachers; they mean well and are there for you.
7. Your high school reputation will not follow you.
8. Absolutely nobody cares if you won homecoming queen, prom queen, etc. after high school.
9. Life goes on.
10. Don't wear so much eye liner.
11. Boys are dumb and they always will be.
12. Go to prom with your friends instead of boys; I promise you'll have more fun.
13. Being single is perfectly okay.
14. Spend more time with your family.
15. You should read more.
16. Don't let anyone's opinion stop you.
17. Wear whatever you want.
18. Go easy on your parents; believe it or not, they are people too.
19. Be nice to the kid who has no friends.
20. Stop worrying about what's being said about you.
21. Kill them with kindness.
22. Don't listen to gossip.
23. True love isn't a fairytale.
24. Appreciate your friends.
25. Don't be mean. Everyone is fighting a battle you don't know about.
