Eight years ago, mid-September, I was just the average 15-year-old sophomore with a lust for vampire books. I had just finished up another chapter of "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse", when 7pm rolled around the corner. The pilot episode of "The Vampire Diaries" was just moments away. Eight years later, there's wine poured in a dinosaur sippy cup and pizza on the nightstand. I sigh to myself as I turn on the television and open my laptop up for live-blogging.
I hear Nina's beautiful, raspy, voice say for the final time, "Previously on The Vampire Diaries" and it commences. I am emotionally ill-prepared.
1. Bonnie Bennett waking up in a meadow.
"Please don't be dead, please don't be dead!" I yelled repeatedly to the television.
2. Enzo suddenly swooping in to tell Bonnie that it wasn't her time yet.
*Cue "My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion*
3. Damon throwing Vicki Donovan out of a the Mystic Falls clock tower.
Come on, Damon, was that truly necessary?
4. Matt meeting up with his dad to warn him about Vicki and the clock tower.
The clock is literally ticking, let's hurry up this sap fest!
5. Elena is awake?!
6. "Hello, brothers." -Katherine "Best Elena Impression" Pierce
My voice went hoarse after the amount of yelling I did.
7. Caroline staying behind with Stefan to help Damon find Elena.
Caroline just go with Alaric and the girls, you don't need any more heartache.
8. Stefan finding a sleeping Elena in the boiler room...
I knew it'd be Stefan to save the day and save Elena one last time!
9. And now they're spelled into the boiler room together!!!
Shout out to Kai Parker for creating that trap. Team Stelena may have a chance!
10. "Family First".
This is just too much for my fragile soul right now. At least Caroline understands.
11. Stefan and Bonnie teaming up one last time.
"Stefonnie" is the most underrated Vampire Diaries dynamic duos and I'm glad it got the limelight this episode.
12. Stefan and Damon arguing about who gets to be the hero.
Luckily they were smart enough to stake her before they argued because this could have gotten uglier than it was.
13. Damon finally apologizing to Stefan after "a century and a half".
14. Caroline being told the devastating news that her husband and best friend might not make it out of Mystic Falls alive.
Caroline Forbes, Bonnie Bennett, and Stefan Salvatore deserve more than constant heartache, am I right?
15. "I will love you forever."
Caroline just shattered me to pieces. Why didn't Alaric get off the car to hug her for a moment?
16. Damon compels Stefan, there's a chance!
Stefan just run as fast and as far away as you can.
17. Bonnie Bennett and the Bennett witches save Mystic Falls because #BlackGirlMagic.
It was arguably the most iconic scene of the finale.
18. Elena wakes up part 2?: A confusing thriller by Julie Plec.
Is Elena Gilbert awake or isn't she? Someone tell me before I start singing Bohemian Rhapsody.
19. Realizing Stefan is dead and is in limbo with Elena to say goodbye.
Why did it have to be Stefan? Why why why!
20. Stefan walking out of the doors and seeing his best friend, Lexi.
This wasy way too much
21. Bonnie breaking the spell and sleeping beauty--er--Elena, wakes up.
It was so Sleeping Beauty like, I laughed for five minutes.
23. Elena reveals Stefan's secret to Caroline: "I love her forever, too."
Way to bring on the tears...again.
23. Delena Reunites.
At least the song was good...#TeamStelena
24. The final diary post from the surviving Mystic Falls gang.
Getting to see Tyler, Vicki, Jeremy, Jo, Liz, and Aunt Jenna one last time made me emotional.
25. "Hello, brother."
Now that, is what I call an ending to eight years of vampire mayhem.
