Thinking about college brings up many different feelings; fear, excitement, jitters, butterflies, and maybe even confusion. No matter how you may be feeling about heading off to college, you will have to shop for it at one point or another. Here is a list of some of the things I find to be the most important and most used in my college life!


1. Fans- Including one that can clip on to something

2. Felt Hangers

3. Mesh Shower Caddy

4. Mini Fridge

5. Mirror that can light up

6. 2-3 Towels

7. Container to Hold Dirty Dishes

8. Paper Plates/plastic spoons/forks

9. A Reusable, Sturdy Water Bottle

10. A Well-Functioning Laptop

11. A Tool Kit

12. One Steak Knife/Sharp Knife

13. Tide Pods

14. Any Medicine You Feel is Necessary (but not too much)

15. Band aids

16. An Extra Phone Charger (preferably one that is extra long)

Cleaning Supplies

18. Scotch Tape

19. Storage Containers of Multiple Sizes

20. Pictures

21. A Backrest Pillow

23. Extra Bags for Going Home (Vera Bradley large duffel bags work wonders)

24. Wallflower/Something to Make Your Room Smell Good

25. Printing Paper


This is only the beginning of what you will be dragging along with you to college, but I feel that these are some of the most important things! I use each and every one of these extremely often, and I believe you will find this list useful! Best of luck with your college endeavors!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
