22 Ways To Spend A Snow Day

When you're a Midwestern resident, a snow day is inevitable. The way that people spend these days are different from one Wisconsinite to the next. The snow that is falling outside of my window has inspired me to ask some of my closest friends and family members the question, "What does your perfect snow day look like?".

I purposely left it to be a little vague so that answers could vary from weather conditions, activities they would like to engage in, and whatever else may come to mind. As you continue to read, you will be able to see I got an array of answers and images painted in my head.

1. "My perfect snow day is full of chick flick movies, ordering Chinese take out, and lots of cuddles and face masks. OH! And fuzzy socks."

2. "The perfect snow day would include no interaction with snow whatsoever. I'd stay inside with good food, wrapped in blankets, and a Netflix marathon."

3. "For me it's when it hasn't snowed in a little bit and then all of a sudden it dumps inches over everything and when you wake up it's just a blanket of snow with no footprints through it and it's all glistening in the sun."

4. "Hmmm... Probably watching movies at home bundled in a blanket and drinking something warm."

5. "I don't know. For me I like looking at fresh snow at like 3 a.m. in the shitty porch light."

6. "Walking through a forest where everything is frozen over and the water on all of the plants has frozen and it looks like crystals!"

7. "When the snow falls straight, and the flakes are big and fluffy so that everything is blanketed and it glitters in the streetlights at night."

8. "At least 5 inches of snow and not that fluffy ass shit. 5 inches of good, wet, packing snow. Packing snow is good to make snowballs in, sled in, and make snowmen and snow forts in. And on top of the 5 inches of packing snow already on the ground but it continues to snow throughout the day."

9. "Hmm... I think a perfect snow day is like a day with some coffee and hot chocolate, wrapped up and cuddling with some bomb ass movies because if it's truly a snow day, it shouldn't be productive and bet your ass I ain't going to drive in the snow if there's that much."

10. "Sitting in my living room in comfy clothes all wrapped up in a blanket watching a fun movie with some hot chocolate and just being cozy all day."

11. "Sleeping in and waking up to a warm cup of coffee, chilling for a while and then having friends over and chilling with them. Possible sledding and hot chocolate making if you're into that (Bailey's in the hot cocoa obviously). and then hanging and watching movies for the rest of the night."

12. "Binge watching a TV show on Netflix in my PJs with snacks and hot chocolate."

13. "Waking up early, grabbing my dog and my friends and going sledding for hours or until our feet are numb. And then we come home and drink hot chocolate."

14. "I remember one time I was snowed in and it was a week off of school. And the first day of my snow storm was spent eating a bunch of food and making a huge snowman."

15. "Okay my perf snow day- It's gotta be thick snowflakes falling steady, waking early-ish but not actually getting out of bed until I've downed 3 cups of cocoa, comfy clothes, maybe going out to coffee with friends. I LOVE running and sliding in the snow with flat shoes... Is that weird? Also throwing snow at my friends (i.e. YOU GIRL), and also lighting candles or a fireplace is lit too."

16. "I think I'd just like to keep things lowkey and simple. Have my Netflix, my girl, my dog, all the blankets, all the hot chocolate and all that good stuff. You feel?"

17. "My perfect snow day would be sitting by the fire, doing a puzzle, having no where to be. Just very relaxed."

18. "Well my perfect snow day would be one where you cannot go anywhere. Where the snow is half a foot deep and still falling. I love those days when you can just watch the snow fall from your living room, maybe step outside and grab a little snow just to say you did, and snuggle up with a book and some coffee. I live in North Carolina now so just the idea of an ACTUAL snow day is more exciting than anything!

19. "One that cancels school, is thick enough for snowballs but doesn't cause too much ice, and a day that has no wind."

20. "First of all, you need to know it's a snow day before you go to bed. That's a game changer. You then can have a sleepover or binge watch Disney without the guilt. Snow needs to be fluffy and light, not slushy and violent. Preferably your brother doesn't hate you so you can go sledding together. Sleeping in and watching movies all day. Maybe doing homework the night before you can really enjoy it."

21. "Watching Netflix all day and cuddling in a bunch of blankets... I did that today, actually."

22. "Skiing. I love to ski.

As one can see, there are many ways to spend a snow day. So the next time you're feeling trapped by the snow, please refer to these answers for some snow day inspiration. Grab some buddies or loved ones and play a board game, watch a movie you haven't seen in ages, or whip up some hot chocolate and share stories that are sure to bring endless laughter. I guarantee that this will take away some of the winter blues.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
