22 Things That Happen When You Love Classic '80s Movies

For those of us who were happier with the way things were.

22 Things That Happen When You Love Classic '80s Movies

It's weird because I, personally, wasn't even alive during the 1980s, yet somehow this decade's music, history and films have had a huge impact on my life. Guess parents are useful for something... (kidding, mom and dad, you're rad).

Classic movies with epic dance scenes, crazy treasure hunts, adventures in a make-believe world, and explorations into classic guy/girl relationships might age, but they never grow old. If you're anything like me, and swoon over a good '80s movie, here are some situations that I'm sure you're very familiar with...

1. You still have faith that someone, someday might show up outside your house with a boom box (okay, iPod speaker) in hand just to play your song and show that he/she's thinking of you.

Where you at, John Cusack?

2. You know exactly how to go about faking sick to stay home...

...or so you think.

3. You are still a little freaked out by "E.T."

Can't say I ever quite understood that one.

4. You have a special place in your heart for one hit wonders like "Simple Minds."

Don't you forget about them... seriously though.

5. You dream of saving your town and finding hidden treasure with your own goon squad.

Squad freaking goals.

6. You can't listen to the song "Time of My Life" without desperately searching around for someone to lift you off your feet.

Literally.

7. You mourn the fact that "the future" has now become the past.

So, does this mean we can only go "back to the past"...?

8. You find yourself wishing for detention, if only it were the kind of place for total strangers to bond and leave as friends despite their different worlds.

Key words: *If only*

9. At some point in your life, you hope to come across someone who reminds you of Chunk.

Because he's just so entertaining.

10. You walk into weddings like "mawwiage is what bwings us together today."

That's right, mawwiage.

11. You wish young people still danced like they enjoyed dancing, and not just to grind up on someone else.

Ren McCormack had to fight for the right to dance, people. Don't ruin it.

12. You are still waiting for the perfect day to forget your obligations and lead a parade instead.

Ferris just made it look so easy.

13. You learned everything you know about relationships from Harry and Sally.

God bless 'em.

14. In times of trouble, you know who you're gonna call...

GHOSTBUSTERS! *Queue cool theme music*

15. You wish love was still so simple and pure.

*Sighs*

16. And you don't get why it's not.

Preach girl.

17. You are persistent and never, under any circumstances, say die.

Once a Goonie, always a Goonie.

18. You realize that life without cell phones was exorbitantly better.

That's right. It's as simple as hanging up the phone. No social media to check.

19. Molly Ringwald will forever be your soul sister.

In Molly we trust.

20. You're friggin' jealous of your parents because this was the world they grew up in.

Do they even understand the importance of these films? They are sacred I tell you — sacred.

21. But it also explains a lot.

Whatcha doing there, Brian?

22. And you will forever continue to live like your life is an '80s movie, even though the rest of the world has since moved on.

It's not you, it's me (and my very high, very impossible and outdated expectations)...

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
