With Mother's Day just passing, I've spent a lot of time thinking about my mom. It's been too long since I was able to go home and just hang out with her and I can't tell her I miss her enough. However, the more time I spend in this big world on my own, the more I realize how right she is about so many things.

1. "You need to get a good nights sleep."

Rest up, sleepyhead.

2. "If a girl is mean to you, she's probably jealous."

Ain't that the truth.

3. "You should call more"

Just pick up the phone. You know you want to.

4. "Eat your vegetables"

Especially the green one.

5. "Make your bed."

It will make you feel better.

6. "You don't need all that makeup."

You're too pretty for all that.

7. "Your skirt is a little short."

But your legs do look nice.

8. "Don't mumble."

What you're saying is important.

9. "A boy is not worth tears."

No boy is worth the stress.

10. "You don't need to be like anyone else."

You were made an original.

11. "Your family is the best support system you'll ever have."

We're always here for you.

12. "Don't spend all your money in one place. "

Even better, try saving it.

13. "I will always find out a lie."

So don't even try it.

14. "Don't rush into anything."

Take your time. Good things are worth the wait.

15. "If you need help, ask"

Because there's someone out there who can help you.

16. "There is no possible way you should be bored".

If you are, you're doing it wrong.

17. "You'll understand when you have a child of your own"

Until then, you won't understand.

18. "Don't grow up too fast"

Take some time to enjoy the now.

19. "I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it"

Don't test me.

20. "Nothing is too bad that you can't talk to someone about it"

Someone is always there to listen.

21. "I'm proud of you"

Like, really proud.

22. "I will always be here for you"

And I'll be your best friend.

In short, thank you mom.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
