I just turned 19 this year, and that means I've been alive for almost 2 decades, which is insane. I've learned a lot throughout these years, and when I think about how far I've come, I get really proud of myself.

The little girl who was really afraid of people, places, and things has grown into somebody who has learned to deal with those things and conquer them. Life sucks sometimes, but that 10-year-old girl got through it.

If I got the opportunity to talk to that little girl, I would have so much to say. Here are just 21 things I would tell her.

1. Stop hating on Taylor Swift, she's actually good.

2. Quality over quantity, every time.

3. Middle school is really hard, but you get through it!

4. You have the best 2 parents in the whole world. NEVER take them for granted.

5. People are mean to you. Ignore them, don't waste your breath, and know you're better than them.

6. STOP crimping your hair. It's not cute.

7. You are going to learn to love your curls, even though they're hard to deal with. Embrace it!

8. Time really does heal all wounds. What you're worried about now will not matter at all in a year.

9. Your friends that aren't nice to you aren't your friends.

10. Learning to love yourself is hard, but you do it eventually. Just know there's no one out there like you.

11. NEVER do anything you don't want to do. It might be embarrassing to say no, but it is the smartest thing to do.

12. Do what you love and love what you do. Life is short, don't spend it wishing you were doing something else.

13. Take days where all you do is things that make you feel good. Self care is SO important!!

14. Always work hard, it pays off!

15. Wake up every day positive. You are always in charge of the type of day you have.

16. Everyone is going through something that you have no idea about. Treat everyone with kindness.

17. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Being vulnerable is okay!

18. Watch the basketball games with Mom and go to the store with Dad. You're going to miss that quality time when you're away.

20. Don't share that water bottle in 8th grade with your friend. You get sick for 2 weeks and it sucks.

21. You're a good person who has a lot to say and offer to the world. Don't be afraid to use your voice!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
