21 Songs You Will Remember If You Listened to Pop/Punk as a Kid

For most of us 90’s kids, our childhood was very diverse when it came to music. In the neighborhood where I grew up, all of the kids listened to pop/punk bands. These were the years when bands like Good Charlotte, Blink 182 and Simple Plan were in their prime. If you grew up anything like I did when it came to the music you listened to, here are 21 songs you will most likely remember if you grew up listening to pop/punk bands.

1.“Way Away” by Yellowcard

Throwing it back to their first album, this song by Yellowcard was perfect for road trips.

2. “My Own Worst Enemy” by Lit

Having been played in everything from “American Pie” to “Parks and Recreation,” this song still continues to remain popular today.

3. “Fat Lip” by Sum 41

Containing elements of punk/rock and even hip hop, it’s no wonder this remains Sum 41’s most popular song that even showed up on the Billboard Top 100.

4. “Addicted” by Simple Plan

This catchy song with relatable teenage lyrics was one of Simple Plan’s best tracks.

5. “Coffeeshop Soundtrack” by All Time Low

Yes, All Time Low had an album before "So Wrong, It's Right."

6. “First Date” by Blink 182

One of the most recognizable songs by Blink.

7. “Whoa Oh! (Me vs Everyone)” by Forever the Sickest Kids

They danced and cheered to it in one of the "Bring It On" movies. Seem familiar?

8. “Jaded” by Mest

This track even featured Benji Madden from Good Charlotte.

9. “First Day of the Rest of Our Lives” by MxPx

For all of you non pop/punk fans, maybe you remember hearing it in the movie "A Cinderella Story."

10. “The Anthem” by Good Charlotte

I’m pretty sure you should know this song no matter who you are.

11. “Memory” by Sugarcult

Definitely one of Sugarcult’s most catchy tunes.

12. “Kings and Queens” by 30 Seconds to Mars

More rock than necessarily pop/punk, 30 Seconds to Mars was still a favorite.

13. “I’m Just a Kid” by Simple Plan

Whenever you were having a bad day, this song was always there.

14. “Sidewalks” by Story of the Year

Mellower than the normal upbeat pop/punk tracks, Story of the Year was certainly one you might remember growing up with.

15. “Basket Case” by Green Day

Even before their popular album "American Idiot," you may have been listening to this song on their album "Dookie."

16. “My Friends Over You” by New Found Glory

With a unique vocal sound, this song by New Found Glory had some fun and relatable lyrics for those of us young kids who were more focused on being a kid than growing up too fast and dealing with relationships already.

17. “Best of Me” by The Starting Line

Who could forget the music video for this song featuring the recreated iconic scene from the film "Say Anything."

18. “Grand Theft Autumn” by Fall Out Boy

Heading back to their roots, this song came from one of Fall Out Boy’s best albums to date, "Take This to Your Grave."

19.“Swing Swing” by The All-American Rejects

This was probably the beginning of your “The All American Rejects” phase.

20. “Stalker” by Goldfinger

Lead singer, John Feldmann, having helped almost all of the bands listed here including 5 Seconds of Summer currently, wrote this song that continues to be one of Goldfinger’s most popular hits.

21. “Jamie All Over” by Mayday Parade

This song always made you want to visit California during those summer months.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
