It's officially summer! I don't know about you guys, but for me that means tan lines, bonfires, sand in unmentionable places and corndogs. Along with the hope of having a relaxing summer, there's a seductive carefree allure to this time that gets encapsulated by movies, providing us with images and an essence that shape the ideals of the season. What movie defines summer goals, you ask? "Aquamarine," and not just because there are mermaids and hot lifeguards.
1. Actually finding a guy who tells the truth?!
I get why this movie's a fantasy now.
2. Tanning and checking out the hotties on the beach like class A stalkers like exhibit A:
3. Exhibit B:
4. Experiencing new things and asking the real questions.
5. This bomb hair.
5. Owning yourself and not caring about reputation.
6. Shopping with all that summer job money.
Shout out to the fashionable shoes on the left though.
7. Being a boss ass b*tch to the haters.
8. Going to the fair and having an absolute blast with your friends.
We may seem obnoxious, but you're just getting a glimpse at unadulterated fun.
9. Or with your summer thang.
And who doesn't dream of a boy winning them an inflatable dolphin?
10. Throwing your diet out the window and appreciating the simple things.
11. Finally escaping the moldy dorm shower and having a bathtub to try that Lush bath bomb in.
*Fin not included
12. Doing crazy things with your best friend so when you look back in 20 years you wonder how you survived.
13. Realizing you almost have four months to hang with your gal pals and do it all.
14. Getting kissed by your crush.
In a movie of mermaids, magic, and summer anything can happen, right?
15. Or catching feelings for someone new.
16. And there's always that initial thrill.
Especially when he calls.
17. Romantic beach dance parties.
18. And just completely letting go.
Even if the price is dignity (cause that flew out the window with the phone, too).
