Anyone who knows anything about me has probably noticed that I am an extreme Spongebob fan. Any chance I get to quote a line or sing a song from Spongebob, I do. And with 2018 at its start, I have been thinking a lot about what I can do to better myself. I have realized that one of the best things I can do is to stop being like Squidward, and to start being like Spongebob.

Here we have Squidward Tentacles. He is Spongebob's next-door neighbor, and he is also his co-worker at The Krusty Krab. Each episode usually consists of Squidward being mad about something that Spongebob does. Overall, he's definitely a negative character.

And then we have Spongebob Squarepants. He lives in the Pineapple right next to Squidward's home and tries to be a caring neighbor. He works at the Krusty Krab as a fry-cook, and is extremely positive about many aspects of his life.

1. Squidward gets annoyed very easily.

One of my goals this year is to not sweat the small stuff. I do not want to get annoyed at things that are out of my control. He often gets mad over little things that make others happy instead of just worrying about himself.

2. Squidward is not dynamic.

He plays his clarinet, goes to work, does some weird yoga/ballet/dancing thing, and yells at people. He is not dynamic in the slightest. He sticks to his routine and gets angry when someone interrupts it. New years are for trying new things, having fun, and for growing as a person.

3. He is a Negative Nelly.

In case you didn't catch on already, he's super negative. Leave the negativity in 2017.

4. Spongebob is caring, fun-loving, and optimistic.

Spongebob is always looking to have fun. He includes others, makes every event a good time, and tries to make everyone happy. 2018 should be a year of trying to be the light of your own life.

5. He's a hard worker.

Spongebob always seems to be working, and he loves his job. He works very hard and is extremely passionate about his craft. A goal of mine is to throw myself into my school work like Spongebob does.

6. He's ALWAYS ready.

Spongebob is always ready for anything. This year, I want to build myself up to be ready for anything that life throws at me. Managing stress and coping with things in a better way will always be my goal.

2018 is the year of Spongebob. It's time to change your life in a positive way. Check yourself, and make sure that you're not living like Squidward.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
