A Cheesy Compilation of Things I Want to Focus on in 2018

With the new year quickly approaching, I have begun to ponder what I would like to change or improve upon. Now, I am not someone that believes in New Year's resolutions, because honestly they tend to last for a week and then we all forget about them. However, for the past few years I have set 5-10 goals for myself regarding things I want to work on or do more often in the new year. I have found this method of goal setting to be quite beneficial and hope it is for you as well!

The first thing that I want to work on is something that is on my list every year, growing closer to Jesus Christ. I have expressed my faith in a few articles, and it is very important to me. While it has been a priority for me, I want to make my relationship with Christ deeper and continue to grow in my faith. I can do this by: attending church or watching online sermons, praying, reading His word, etc.

The next thing I want to focus on in 2018 is doing things that make me happy and not getting too caught up in the pressures of college. Now, I am not saying that I'm going to never study and go crazy; however I think it is important to have a good balance between academics and social activities. Therefore, I want to do fun things like go dancing with my friends on a Saturday night, or just read a book for fun without feeling guilty about it.

Third, I want to give myself outlets for creativity. College calls for a lot of writing and reading, which I often enjoy, however it does not always allow time for creativity. This year I want to allow myself the time and give myself the space to be creative. Whether that is through getting back into YouTube or writing a short novel, I am ready to delve back into my creative mind!

Lastly, in 2018 I want to better myself in order to better serve others. I have always been that person who puts her friends above herself and while I love that about myself, I need to take care of myself before I can help others. This was something that I knew I had to do my freshman year of college after neglecting my mental and emotional health and I noticed that I was a happier, more loving person as a result!

2018 is fast approaching, and I believe it is going to be a fabulous year if we allow ourselves the room to grow. I wish you all the best

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
