2016 SAG Awards: The Best and Worst Dressed
SAG Awards

The Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet was chock full of gorgeous gowns and suave suits. There were also, however, some looks that—in my opinion—just did not work. I’ve compiled, in no particular order, a list of what I think were the most jaw-dropping and disappointing looks of the night. This "Best and Worst" dressed list is solely based on how they look, nothing more. For example, me putting Julianne Moore on my worst dressed list does not mean I don't love her. It just means I think she looked like a lime.

Best:

Rooney Mara looked absolutely stunning in her black plunging neckline Valentino Haute Couture gown. She topped off this simple look with a sleek ponytail, giving it a very polished look.

Kate Winslet, as usual, looked gorgeous in her Giorgio Armani gown. The neckline detailing and the trumpet hem kept the look simple, yet stunning.

I adored Karsen Liotta's Chanel dress. We often see at award shows extravagant gowns only a star could pull off. What I loved about this look was that it is wearable! She, like many celebrities on the red carpet, followed the trend of simplicity with her cap sleeve detailing and high-low hemline. No elaborate patterns, no shocking colors—just an elegant look.

I was surprised to see Kristen Wiig in a jumpsuit on the red carpet, but it worked! Her Roland Mouret number managed to keep her look simple, and the abstract pattern kept it interesting! Not to mention how flattering it was for her figure.

Eva Longoria looks great in everything, but she was especially glowing in her Julien Macdonald gown. It was a busy gown that did not look busy due to the monochromatic patterns. The neckline and open back also flattered her curvy figure.

Now, onto the worst dressed stars... (in my opinion)

Don't get me wrong, I love Sarah Paulson. Unfortunately, her Armani dress looked like she hot glued a fur boa to it. I was worried she would leave a trail of feathers on the carpet! Not to mention, the skirt was velvet. Had she ditched the feathers and went for a velvet black gown, she might have made it on my best dressed list.

Nicole Kidman is beautiful. Her outfit at the SAG Awards, however, masked her beauty. The Gucci dress had so many colors and scattered ruffles that I was focusing more on how awful it was, and not on how pretty she is! She has graced the red carpet with many gorgeous looks in the past. This just was not one of them.

As I said before, I love Julianne Moore. I especially loved her outfit from the 2015 SAG Awards. I knew it would be hard to top her previous look, but she did not even come close. Green is definitely the right color for her, but more of an emerald shade instead of a bright lime. Also, the dress itself was unflattering. I hate to say it, but the cut-outs did not look age-appropriate.

Gaby Hoffman's Rachel Comey sequin gown simply did not work. The dress looked tight fitting and the reversible sequins did not photograph well. In many of her red carpet photos, you can actually see the carpet reflecting on her dress! Also, her turquose/seafoam/I-don't-know-the-shade shoes did not match the gown.

I was not a fan of Demi Moore's Zac Posen dress. It was completely sheer and the ruffled detailing down the front was a little too much. She also announced the last award of the night, so to see her gown as the finale was a bit of a letdown. I expected Moore (Ha!).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
