20 Things I Am Telling Myself After I Finally Turn 20
My mom

Being the age nineteen was a super long, eventful, and tiring year for me. I learned a lot and I hope to continue to learn more over this next year of being twenty. I have come up with a list of twenty things that I am telling myself to do throughout this year or work on. (By the way my birthday was March 14th!!)

1. Stop caring what other people think.

I'm always thinking about what other people are thinking about me. It can make me uptight and just insecure all of the time. I want to learn how to stop doing that so much.

2. Take your vitamins.

No one gets all of the vitamins they need through their diet, therefore, take your vitamins!!

3. Stop letting people make your decisions.

Stop being so indecisive and learn how to make your own decisions girl.

4. You can eat whatever you want.

Stop always criticising yourself if you eat something bad. No one is perfect and eats perfectly clean 24/7. Just live your life boo.

5. Being an overthinker isn't always bad.

Just because you think too much and make yourself emotional doesn't mean its always a bad thing. I'd rather overthink then not think at all.

6. Always trust your gut feelings.

This is pretty self-explanatory. If your gut is getting that bad feeling listen to it. Usually, you are right.

7. Don't always stress so much.

You need to just chill sometimes honey.

8. SAVE MONEY!!

You're getting older and need to take more responsibility. Don't buy unnecessary dachshund stuff (even though I want to so bad). Save that money!

9. It is ok to not want to go out or party.

Just because you're a college student doesn't mean you have to go out or party. Ever once in a while is fine.

10. Don't be negative all of the time.

Just stop. Be more positive. I know its hard.

11. You don't have to be TOO independent.

Or too dependent.

12. Read more.

Reading helps you learn new things! Also, reading can help you unwind and de-stress. So, go into another world with a book.

13. Continue to drink lots of water.

I already do this but I just wanted to remind myself.

14. Take any opportunities that are given/thrown at you.

If you get offered a job, internship, trip, or literally any opportunity just take it! You never know what could come out of it. Step out of your comfort zone.

15. Talk to all of your family more.

Family is very important so always keep in touch. Try to call them at least twice a week.

16. Keep trying your best.

That's all you can do. You cant be perfect.

17. Travel more, you're only young once.

This is very important to me. I want to travel a lot! I haven't been many places in my twenty years so far. So, I want to travel more throughout my twenties.

18. Don't let people bring you down.

Yet again, don't care so much what people think. Don't let their opinions or words bring you down.

19. Love yourself more.

I cannot stress this enough. You will never be fully happy if you cannot love yourself.

20. Just be YOU!

Do not change for anyone or anything!! Let people see the real you.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
