Pretty much ever since I got my 5th gen iPod nano, I've always had a "Girl Power" playlist. It's basically just a playlist of empowering--or, at the very least, really catchy--songs by only female artists that I update every once in awhile. So here is just part of my current "Girl Power" playlist.

1. "Sorry Not Sorry" - Demi Lovato

Demi is such a bad ass female role model now. I love her so much. Ever since she released the Confident album, I've been obsessed with her.

2. "Now Or Never" - Halsey

Yes, this is a love song (sorta), but it's a song that's clicked with me recently. This isn't your traditional love song either, it's very reminiscent of Aly & AJ's "Potential Break Up Song" in it's fix-it-or-get-gone manner and I love it.

3. "Scars To Your Beautiful" - Alessia Cara

Honestly, every woman-- Scratch that. Every person needs to listen to this song and really hear this message because honestly, it's so real.

4. "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" - Pat Benatar

I've got a soft spot for female rockers and Guitar Hero so ya know.

5. "Telephone" - Lady Gaga & Beyoncé

This song is forever a favorite of mine. Not only are both of these ladies some of the baddest, most empowering females around, this music video is killer. Literally.

6. "Can't Be Tamed" - Miley Cyrus

Bet you forgot about this one because I always do. This is right before Miley shocked us all with a new look and honestly it's pretty great, though.

7. "Salute" - Little Mix

8. "Respect" - Aretha Franklin

9. "One Girl Revolution" - Superchick

Okay, but this was in Cadet Kelly and it is forever stuck in my head because of that.

10. "Rise" - Katy Perry

Yes, this was kinda the Olympics theme song last summer, but it's a great song and super empowering if you actually listen to the lyrics.

11. "NO" - Meghan Trainor

It takes a lot to outright reject someone sometimes, but Meghan Trainor went ahead and wrote us an entire song just for that purpose.

12. "Girl In A Country Song" - Maddie & Tae

As a born and raised country girl, I have seen, or rather heard the shift in country music from the 90s to 2017 and thank God someone else has noticed. This song always make me grin and laugh because it's all so true.

13. "I Don't Care" - Ariana Grande

Say what you will about Ariana, but this is a great song. It is all about no longer caring about what other people think about you and I love it.

14. "Church Bells" - Carrie Underwood

I've always said my favorite Carrie Underwood songs are the ones where she literally gets away with murder. Probably stems from my early love of the Dixie Chicks' "Goodbye Earl."

15. "Crazy Beautiful Life" - Kesha

I love Kesha and I'm not sorry about it.

16. "Hold My Heart" - Lindsey Stirling & ZZ Ward

I love the "I can take care of myself, but I want to be in a relationship" message in this song. You shouldn't feel any less for wanting love ever. Plus Lindsey's violin in stunning!

17. "Little Red Wagon" - Miranda Lambert

18. "You've Got Time" - Regina Spektor

Can't forget the Orange Is The New Black theme song in this playlist, obviously.

19. "Half the Man" - Rozzi Crane

I saw her when she was on tour as one of Maroon 5's opening acts and fell in love. This particular song is about how this guy is half the man that she is and she won't settle for it because she knows she can do better.

20. "How Far I'll Go" - Moana

She is one of the most empowering "princesses" to come out of Disney. You've also gotta admit this song is really catchy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
