Oldies music is the most underrated form of mainstream music that exists, in my opinion. So many people consider it a genre of music that doesn’t belong to them because it was popular before they were even born, or think it is too dated to be considered relevant. However, oldies music is unique because it weaves a story for its listeners; it represents a marker of time gone by, something to remember the past.
Eventually, all the music we listen to today will be considered oldies, and will be a snapshot into the past that we once shared. My favorite era of old music spans the '60s and '70s, and each song verbalizes a specific feeling we have all felt before, but somehow been unable to identify. This music was so varied and influenced by the political storm that occurred during the tumultuous period in American history. On this rainy day, I decided to share some songs I consider the best of the genre, the songs that really make me feel something.
