A Christmas Story. A now timeless classic that was once a movie that wasn't all that successful in the theaters. My family has a tradition to watch the movie, or at least have it on the TV, every Christmas, so it's a movie that I've come to love and that I know pretty much by heart at this point. It's a great, funny, classic Christmas movie, but there's some great life lessons that we can all learn from it as well. So without further ado, here's some takeaways from the famous tale of Ralphie told every Christmas.
Christmas comes quick and comes early (It starts easing it's way into stores practically before Halloween), so make sure you're prepared for it every year so it won't smack you in the face and strangle you a few days before December 25th.

Know what you want in life and don't be afraid to shout it.

Dream big. There's no sense in trying to achieve things that you don't really care about all that much in life. Go after those things that you really want.

Don't get discouraged when you're down, or in this case when you get a boot to the face. Someone in the world understands your plight. (And they may even be closer than you think) You don't want just a stupid football, you want a Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle!

Eventually your efforts will pay off!

Sometimes things don't hold up to your expectations, however, and you have to be able to accept that. Nothing will always be as you expect it to be whether bad or good.

Sometimes you get awesome surprises in your life, however! Just watch out because sometimes they can be "fra-gee-ley."

And sometimes others won't appreciate all the things that come along in your life, but ultimately it's your appreciation for them that matters because they are what will make you happy.
Sometimes things are disappointing, though. They're just not what you expected at all and all you can do is move on accept that it didn't go as you had expected and hoped for. Not everyone can appreciate your vision and creativity in life.

People will stand up to you sometimes too, and "triple dog dare you." So don't be halted by your fear, take it as a challenge and prove them wrong.

However, you also need to know when to pick your battles.

And sometimes you'll be left all alone in life.

You can't be afraid of those weirdos and freaks.

And sometimes you'll make mistakes too—like saying the wrong thing by accident.

And sometimes there will be punishments for those mistakes.

Plus, there'll probably be annoying people along the way who just won't understand you—even your siblings.

Sometimes you'll have to see things from different perspectives and understand different cultures.

Sometimes it might be better to just play dead and let the storm pass.

And sometimes, you really have to get out there and fight for what you believe in because no one else will! You have to bring down those who doubt you and attack you.
