A student at Wheaton once told me I was "ambiguously ethnic," meaning I could play all the foreign roles. People rarely know where we're from by just looking at us. Randomly, in conversation, people say, "You remind me of _____." Or, while watching a movie, "Hey, she kind of looks like you!"

Do we actually look like said character or is just because we're tan?

***Disclaimer: we do not all look the same!

Nonetheless, I'm taking it as a cinematic compliment.

All characters listed have been compared to me or a fellow "ambiguously ethnic" friend.

1. Angelica from "Pirates of the Caribbean"

What is that supposed to mean? Go walk the plank.

2. Pocahontas

Painting all the colors of the wind.

3. Gabriella Montez from "High School Musical"

Tan and nerdy ∴ must be Gabriella.

4. Mindy Lahiri from "The Mindy Project"

Wearing scrubs = automatic Doctor Lahiri.

5. Cece Parekh from "New Girl"

Obviously because we're model material.

6. Esmeralda from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"

We'll take Esmeralda's movie fate please, not the book.

7. Jackie Burkhart from "That 70s Show"

Although we all know Fez is the real ambiguously ethnic character.

8. Princess Tamina from "The Prince of Persia"

If only we could actually travel back in time.

9. Mimi Marquez from "RENT"

525,600 comparisons.

10. Princess Rosalinda Maria Montoya Fioré from "Princess Protection Program"

Princess of Costa Luna, an ambiguous foreign place.

11. Dora The Explorer

¡Vámonos! Let's go never make this comparison again. Way too redundant.

12. Ana Lucia Cortez from "Lost"

It's because we're super tough, right?

13. Gloria Delgado Pritchett from "Modern Family"

This comparison is always accompanied what an attempt to do the accent.

14. Ziva David from "NCIS"

Well, she speaks 10 languages.

15. Jess Bhamra from "Bend it Like Beckham"

That's right, it's gotta be the soccer skills!

16. Santana Lopez from "Glee"

We just hope it is not because of personality.

17. Jasmine from "Aladdin"

I can show you the world, or at least a map. You need one.

18. Janine from "Sherlock"

Hmmmm. Is it the Irish accent? So foreign.

19. Agent Daisy Johnson from "AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D."

Sometimes you just gotta shake things up a bit.

20. Gamora from "Guardians of the Galaxy"

Because nothing says ambiguously ethnic like green skin.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
