November was a great month for music. Both One Direction and Justin Bieber dropped albums on Nov. 13, and they did not disappoint.
One Direction's fifth album is called, "Made In The A.M." This album consists of 17 songs that make you feel like you are back in the '80s. The album has the perfect mix of light, happy tunes and songs that really pull at the heart strings.
Throughout the years, these boys have started to write more and more of their music, and this album was written solely by them. You can hear the different styles of each member in the songs they wrote, and that is very unique. Aside from the catchy singles "Drag Me Down", "Infinity", and "Perfect" that the boys had released in the last few months, there are many songs on the album that are worth noticing.
"Never Enough" is a song filled with caveman-like grunts, which at first sounds weird. The song's hook and chorus are way too catchy, and it's hard to not sing along. This is my favorite song in their album.
In addition to catchy tunes, there are songs like "I Want To Write You A Song" that can make anyone shed a tear. The boys really poured their hearts out in this song, and it worked.
This is One Direction's first album since the departure of the bands fifth member, Zayn Malik. There was a lot of pressure on the band, and the suspense of hearing what they created as a foursome was intense. Personally, I think this is their best album to date.
Then, there is good ol' Justin Bieber. The Biebs dropped "Purpose," an 18 song album filled with heart felt lyrics and some of the catchiest tunes of the year.
It is not unknown that the singles "Sorry" and "What Do You Mean" have crushed the music charts, and could probably be considered two of the best pop songs of the year. Like "Made In The A.M.," there are many great songs from "Purpose" that deserve recognition.
One of my favorite songs from "Purpose" is called, "Love Yourself." I do not know who he is talking about in this song, but he absolutely roasts this girl. I am also pretty positive that "Love Yourself" is code for "F**k Yourself." Take a listen and tell me that I am wrong.
Bieber has collaborated with many new artists, like Big Sean and Skrillex. He really found his sound in this album, and you can tell that he put a lot of effort into every song.
This is Bieber's first album since he released "Journals" back in 2013. He took a two-year hiatus from music to work on himself after a series of police run-ins and incidents with fans, and he came back better than he has ever been.
Both One Direction and Bieber really found themselves this last year and have produced two high-quality albums that satisfy every listener.
By overcoming adversity and tough situations, both artists have used the bad things in their lives and turned out amazing songs. To me, that is what it means to be a great artist.
