No matter where you head to in life, your hometown will always play a large role in how you became you. I remember growing up, I always wanted to get out of the little suburb I was raised in, and head off to busier and better things. However, now that I'm in my fourth year living away from home, I've began to notice there are a lot of things I miss about my little town that will always hold true to my heart. For many people from Mooresville, these 19 sweet treasures will jog back some memories, and make you feel nostalgic.
1. You played basketball at some point because it was the only important sport in town.
2. Ms. Gilly was the wisest being you had ever met in your life.
3. Middle School health class reminds you of those stressful days watching movies like "Remember the Titans" and "Shrek."
4. There were two kinds of people when you got into high school: those that came from the gold team and those that came from the blue team.
5. Dong's was your guilty pleasure.
6. Your weekend nights took a devastating blow when the Mooresville Movies closed.
7. So you then resorted to hanging out in the Kroger parking lot.
8. At least 75 percent of your friends worked at Steak 'N Shake, Dairy Queen, or Papa Murphy's.
9. It took you until middle school to finally get straight which elementary school was North Madison and which elementary school was Northwood.
10. Old Settlers and the opening of the Mooresville Aquatic Center were the highlights of your childhood summers.
11. You have no idea how Blueberry Hill broke the "failing business" curse of the building it resides in.
12. When El Rodeo moved to a larger building, your heart fluttered with happiness.
13. You had at least 10 friends who lived in Heartland Crossing.
14. And at least one friend who had a house in Monrovia that you would go to for bonfires.
15. Anderson Orchard's apple cider slushes are what kept you alive in the fall.
16. When you told people outside of your town that you were from Mooresville, they automatically assume you ate at either Zydeco's or Gray Brothers Cafeteria 24/7.
17. And consequently, your family members expected you to bring a pie from Gray Brothers Cafeteria to every holiday gathering.
18. You remember show choir being more cutthroat than any sports team.
19. But no matter how you felt about this little suburb, you could always agree you would rather live here than in its rival town, Martinsville.
