October 27, 2015 marked the one-year anniversary of Taylor Swift's fifth studio album, "1989," and the world hasn't been the same since. Even though it's been a whole year since Miss Swift dropped the record, we still find ourselves jamming along to nearly every track. Here's why you just can't stop listening to 1989.
1. The upbeat tunes make you want to dance like crazy. (Or, shall we say, "Shake it Off")
2. It's SO EMPOWERING.
3. The lyrics are so catchy that they're still stuck in our heads. All of them.
4. Each music video released for this album has been a cinematic piece of art. (Another one soon, please?)
5. It's still living at the top of the music charts.
6. Taylor continues to blow us away every night on the 1989 World Tour.
7. Surprises like this killer acoustic performance of "Out of the Woods." (Which also proved Tay's singing chops to all the haters.)
8)."Wildest Dreams." Enough said.
9. 1989 is Taylor's most real and honest album yet. (And she totally owns it.)
10. We're inspired by all the killer fashion statements that have come out of the "1989" era.
I mean...seriously. Fierce.
11. With the release of "1989," Taylor Swift became the first artist to successfully transition from country to pop and maintain the same, if not more, successful.
12. This lyric that we're still using to caption our best Instagram selfies.
13. We can't help playing "Welcome To New York" in our headphones and acting out our own mini music video every time we step foot in NYC.
14. It's the girl-power feminist soundtrack we all needed.
15. Confession: We're still dancing around our rooms to "1989" and pretending that we're members of Taylor Swift's squad. (Especially when "Bad Blood" comes on.)
16. The Ryan Adams "1989" cover album, which showed us that Tay's songs are just as amazing no matter how they're played or who they're sung by. (Though Miss Swift herself, of course does it best.)
17. If Kanye likes it, you know it's good.
18. In classic Taylor Swift fashion, "1989" is full of the breakup anthems we need when we're at our worst.
19. Simply put, Taylor is Queen, the world is her kingdom and the power of 1989 is ruling us all to this day.
