16 Times The Middle Finger Emoji Is The Perfect Response

Remember last weekend, when that cute guy you’ve been hanging out with didn’t text you back? Remember the rage that built up inside you when you watched that little “delivered” label switched to “read,” but with no blinking grey dots indicating a response being typed? Remember the hour you spent writing a novel to text about how you don’t need him and can do so much better? An hour wasted on a stupid fight when there is Netflix to be watched and nails to be painted!

Well, pick a new show to binge watch and check out Essie’s fall collection. No more angry double texts, no more ranting paragraphs; just flip those haters the emoji bird!

Yes, the rumors are true! Thanks to Apple’s newest software update, iOS 9.1, angry iPhone users everywhere can express their rage in mere seconds. Located in the “People and Smileys” category, among a sea of assorted hand gestures, including the infamous “OK” symbol and the ever-so-popular peace fingers, the middle finger emoji fits right in.Though there are countless opportunities to use this emoji, here are 16 times in which anything other than an "F U" would fall short.

1. When mom texts you saying she’s making chicken for dinner. AGAIN

2. When your friend texts you to remind you of the homework due tomorrow

3. When your sister texts you to ask if she can borrow your new sweater AFTER leaving for school already wearing it

4. When your best friend comments on but doesn’t like your Instagram

5. When you’re locked out of your apartment and your roommates don’t answer their texts

6. When your grandma comments “such a cute photo” on a picture of you that someone else added to Facebook

7. When somebody texts “sorry, I just saw this” more than 24 hours after you sent it

8. When you think what you said was funny but no one in your group chat texts back "LOL"

9. When you have to respond to a text message break up (TMBU)

10. When friend texts you asking how you did on a test that you failed.

11. When your dad texts you wondering why the credit card bill is so high this month

12. When someone texts you saying “happy birthday” when your birthday was actually a week ago

13. When someone texts you saying “I need to tell you something” but doesn’t respond for hours when you ask what it is

14. When someone that’s picking you up texts you “here” but you walk outside and see no cars

15. When your friend is taking the same class, but an earlier section, and doesn’t warn you about a pop quiz

16. When someone you hate texts you “love ya”

So, sassy girls unite and rejoice over this miracle that Steve Jobs has sent from the heavens. This tiny little cartoon will change our generation. You know what they say... a picture is worth 1,000 words.

PS: There are some other highly notable new emojis that came along with the middle finger. Some honorable mentions include the taco, the unicorn, the hot dog, and the robot.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
