16 Things You Encounter While In College

Some you will admit and at a certain point you will stop admitting to them.

Every college student should be able to relate to at least two of these if not all of them...

1. Changing your major... maybe more than once.

I mean how are we supposed to know what we want to do for the rest of our lives at the age of 18?

2. Going out instead of studying for a test.

Yeah, that probably happened. Sorry mom.

3. Having that one night you forgot, but no one lets you forget what you did.

It might as well be engraved on your headstone, because that night you do not remember at all is still brought up on a weekly basis like no one else ever has had those nights before.

4. Finding that one distractingly attractive guy (or girl).

Good luck if you sit next to him or her in class, and really good luck if you are partners with them on any assignment. Just remember you do not have a chance with him or her.

5. Considering intensely dropping out and living on the streets.

I don't know about everyone else, but this crosses my mind every time I am walking into a test, quiz, work, or even turning homework in. So pretty much anytime something important that affects the rest of my life occurs.

6. Being so broke you can barely afford the air you breathe.

If air cost to breathe I would hold my breath, because as of right now my bank accout is slim to none.

7. Spending the little money you have on what you shouldn't spend it on.

But hey that money you do have, you spend on things you shouldn't. Whether it's food out with friends, clothes, or alcohol, you make it work. I mean shaking the couch cushions has never been frowned upon.

8. Applying for those summer jobs or internships.

That dreaded time of the year where we all apply for those jobs and internships.

9. Never being that rejected by so many people at once.

And being rejected by all the ones you applied for...I mean they let you down "easy," yet they have no idea this is the fifteenth email or phone call you had received that morning.

10. Eating pizza for every meal.

I mean pizza has protein, grains, diary, maybe fruits and veggies sounds healthy enough to me.

11. Learning how to eat meals in the shower, bed, or anywhere but a table.

Mastering the task of eating your breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the go. Or even if you need to get ready and eat by a certain time. Pizza in the shower has been mastered by the end of college.

12. Skipping work to hang out with friends and not caring.

Knowing you have to care so much that you just quit caring all together.

13. Letting your friends tell you something is totally OK...and it's not.

This happens all the time, and I never catch onto it until after I did the stupid thing and I regret it immediately.

14. Never wanting to leave the party that was over hours ago.

According to Ke$ha, "the party don't start 'til I walk in," and until I leave as well. Which could be much later than expected...if I'm having fun you're going to have to live with it.

15. Meeting that one guy (or girl) who will break your heart.

This is the worst and probably most relatable.

16. Meeting that one best friend who you will be buried next to.

I can say I have found my friends who will last me a lifetime during my years in college.

This is definitely a condensed list of the things people will encounter while in college, but I think it covers a large majority of what happens. Like people say these are the best four years of your life...I also like the add, "but also the most stressful, most heartbreaking, and probably most stupid four years of your life."

"May the odds ever be in your favor."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
