17 Things To Do Instead Of Watch TV

So you don't feel like such a piece of trash.

Winter break is kinda ... long. After the craziness of finals week, and the first week of sleeping 12 hours being home can kinda get boring. Instead of watching TV all day here are all the other things for you to do.

1. Read a Book

I have a list of books on my phone that I have been putting off reading for months. Now is a perfect time. Keep your brain chart and read the book that all those movies you watched are based on.

2. Bake Something

'Tis the season to eat your body weight in food, why not do it in baked goods too. Look at my list from last week to see everything you should be baking over break.

3. Take a Class

So many places will have deals while everyone is home over break. Try a painting, work out or cooking class with a friend. If you are bad at it, who cares, at least you tried.

4. Learn to Cook a New Dish

Learn to cook another meal that you can make with ease when you get back to school. Eating pasta everyday kinda gets boring after a while.

5. Clean Out Room

What better time is there to clear out the clutter in your room, and to get rid of clothes that just don't do it for you than right before new years. Get your cleanse on and declutter your life.

6. Prewrite Articles

I am going abroad next semester, and I know that I will be super busy. Instead of struggling to write odyssey articles every week, I am going to try to pre-write as many as possible. Everyone has some work they should probably be doing.

7. Shop

Who doesn't love a good after Christmas sale? Hit the mall with your friends to get a good walk in and get out of the house.

8. Laundry

Yeah, that pile in the corner of your room probably is not going away anytime soon. Why don't you at least put in a load while you are watching TV.

9. Visit a College Friend

Odds are you have at least one college friend who lives near you at home. Pay them a visit or take a day trip together to make the best of your time off.

10. Workout

Hahahahahhahaahah. No.

11. Update your Music Collection

My playlists on Spotify are a mess. Why not update them and add some new songs to your collection while you are at it.

12. Crafting

Make some new decorations for your dorm, or for New Year's Eve. Pinterest is filled with cute ideas that anyone can totally do, and for cheap!

13. Update your Resume or Linkedin

Or better yet do both. This is something I have been totally putting off and plan to do over break. If you landed an internship you have bragging rights, use them!

14. Take a Bath

Look at my article on the perfect post-finals bath to see how you can make your relaxation time the absolute best it can be.

15. Plan a Trip

Spring break is only a few short months away. Why not plan an awesome trip with your friends or family while the rates are still low.

16. Plan Outfits

I get bored of wearing what feels like the same outfits over and over again. Try searching one of your clothing items on Pinterest to see if anyone came up with any inspiring combinations for you to try out.

17. Reflect

Look back at your year and see what you did well, and what you could have done better. Come up with a motto to get yourself through the new year, and to inspire yourself to be the best version of yourself.

Hopefully, you found something on this list to occupy your time over break. Otherwise, watching Netflix all day totally works too.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
