It's that time of year again. Post-finals I sleep for a full day and then occupy the kitchen from now until January. These are some of the things I will totally be making over break.

1. Gingerbread Cookies

I made this recipe last year around this time. It was totally worth making hot pretzels from scratch. It's a little messy though so be prepared.

2. Foccacia Bread

Making focaccia bread from scratch is so easy and so good. If you can't eat all of it fast enough toast it up and use it as a crouton.

3. Sugar Cookies

Santa's coming so obviously you have to make his favorite thing, sugar cookies! If you're feeling lazy make your own slice and bake by rolling the dough into a log.

4. Hot Pretzels

I made this recipe last year and it was totally worth it. The recipe is kinda messy but your family will be too distracted eating to care.

5.Cinnamon Rolls

My family eats cinnamon rolls every Christmas morning, so why not make them from scratch if you have the time. They need a lot of time to rest which gives you plenty of time for Christmas activities.

6. Garlic Knots

Garlic knots are such a good guilty pleasure. I like to cheat and make them using pizza dough, instead of making them totally from scratch.

7. Apple Turnover

I haven't had one of these in forever, but they honestly make the best ~almost~ healthy dessert. Catch me making a batch of these next week.

8. Crumb Cake

Another good breakfast option so you can really celebrate Carbmas the right way. Who doesn't want to start their day eating basically dessert.

9. Peppermint Bark

Okay fine, this isn't totally baking but, anyone with food allergies knows that this is almost impossible to find without a nut warning in the stores. It's super simple to enjoy at home and a great use for your leftover candy canes.

10. Granola Bars

You should probably eat something other than just baked goods during December, so a homemade granola bar totally makes up for this. Plus they are even better made at home than store bought, especially when they are still gooey before they set.

11. Croissants

I have always wanted to try making a croissant from scratch, but have strayed away from it as I have heard it is very hard. This year I plan to take the dive and try and make them. Who knows maybe I'll go crazy and add some chocolate inside too.

Happy baking! Be sure to eat some fruit and veggies in between, but other than that Merry Carbmas.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
