17 Reasons Why Wendy's Is The Best

Last Friday evening, my pals and I stopped off at a Wendy’s in uptown New York for a bite to eat. In between delectable bites of rich and meaty chili (featuring saltine crackers), I witnessed something so outrageous I almost toppled off my red stool.

Exiting the premises, dressed like a wanna-be Drake with a hint of Fetty, was a young man (who will not be named to avoid public humiliation). “I still like McDonald’s better,” said the villain as he strolled (with no swag) out of the fast food franchise.

Excuse me, sir. The disrespect -- who raised you? Here I was, feasting with my best friends, and you had the audacity to throw shade at my cloud-nine dining facility. Explain yourself!

If you’re reading this now, sir, here are 17 reasons why Wendy’s is the best.

1. The “Wendy’s girl” is a cute, redheaded character and not a creepy-clownish-pedophile man with a red Afro in a yellow jumpsuit.

2. The new Wendy’s $4 for 4 deal means I can be financially responsible at the dinner table.

3. Sometimes, if you flirt with the Wendy’s cashier, he’ll give you a book of coupons!

4. Wendy’s is international, which means I never have to worry about leaving the country.

5. Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas (who was adopted as a child) created the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption in 1992, in order to provide grants to national and regional adoption organizations for programs that raise awareness and make adoption easier and more affordable.

6. Dave Thomas’ daughter, Wendy, serves on the board of trustees.

7. If you’ve ever hit rock bottom in life, don’t fret -- you can look up the nearest Wendy’s via the mobile app.

8. You can also pay through the app, donate to the Dave Thomas Foundation and, in some locations, order through the app and then pick up your order at the designated location.

9. Wendy’s kids meals offer a variety of lighter options, such as grilled chicken wraps, apple slices, juice boxes, milk cartons and water bottles -- so I can be a fab mom one day.

10. Where else can you get a strawberry lemonade or blueberry pineapple chiller?

11. Wendy’s has a lot of variety in choosing sides, such as baked potatoes and chili.

12. Wendy’s Frostys are the perfect bite for dessert. They’re simply delicious, and they prove to you that you don’t need gobs of hot fudge or sprinkles to have a decadent dessert.

13. Every Wendy’s receipt offers a survey. If you complete it, you receive $2 off a large sandwich or large salad.

14. Wendy’s has five delicious salad options with mixed greens and elegant toppings, unlike McDonald's, which usually only offers two or three salad options.

15. Redhead Roasters coffee is the perfect way to start your day.

16. Wendy’s offers a lot of educational toys in their kids meals, which means I’ll save money on Christmas presents and on tutoring!

17. Wendy’s customers can buy the Frosty key tag for $1 -- 90 cents of which is donated to the Dave Thomas Foundation. And with that key tag, you can receive junior Frostys all year for free!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
