Don't get me wrong; spending the entire summer in the place I spent the first 18 years of my life was amazing. It was great seeing my parents every day, hanging out with my friends from high school, sleeping in my own bed, eating home-cooked meals, and hanging out with my dog and cats. It was great getting to live the life I used to know, even if only for a few months.

Don't get me wrong, spending the entire summer in the place I spent the first 18 years of my life was a breath of fresh air -- the relaxation I needed to be fully charged for when I returned to school in the fall.

Don't get me wrong; as much as I have loved being home for the summer, I can't wait to go home. Home, as in, college.

While college was incredibly difficult to adjust to in the beginning, it soon became my home. It became the place I missed when I went home for a weekend. It became the place that made me a better, happier, stronger, independent person. While there are so many reasons I am going to miss my home while I am away at school, there are so many reasons I can't wait to go home.

1. Football games.

2. College friends.

3. My sorority sisters.

4. Wearing sweats wherever, whenever.

5. Staying out as late as I want.

6. Eating whatever I want, when I want.

7. College parties. (They're trashy but they're fun and make for nights to remember (most of the time).

8. Repping my schools colors every day of the week.

9. Being in the place that I will graduate from. Being in the place that will prepare me for my future as an adult, and my future in the career of my dreams.

10. Learning from the best professors out there, the people who know what it takes to work in my desired career.

11. DAIRY STORE ICE CREAM. (You'll only understand the true beauty behind this decadent ice cream if you go to Michigan State.)

12. There is ALWAYS something to do. Between free movie showings every weekend to free bowling and craft night every Wednesday to every other free events colleges offer, you will never get bored.

13. Having a reason to drink coffee and eat ice cream every day.

14. Getting the motivation to work out and eat healthy when you see all the cute guys on campus.

15. CUTE GUYS. Unlike our hometowns, the places filled with too many guys we have history with and too many guys who remember our awkward years, campus is crawling with hot guys who don't know our name or a thing about us.

16. College friends. It's important that I reiterate this a second time because they are every college student's favorite aspect of college.

17. College means for a new day every day. These are the years we are allowed to screw up and make mistakes. These are the years we are allowed to change our minds. These are the years we are allowed to be crazy and live it up. These are the years that will be some of the best of our life.

As much as I am going to miss home, I can't wait to go home.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
