The other day I was browsing Reddit when I came across an interesting AMA (Ask Me Anything) on the front page. It was Kyle Parramore who went to prison at the age of 24 for essentially being a dumbass troll on the internet.
What he did was an exceedingly stupid thing to do — making a terroristic shooting threat on a school in Ohio.
I see people online start to rage and make stupid threats to random people far more often than what should occur. I’d guess that these threats are made half in pure anger with no actual action expected, and half in some attempt at a troll to garner a reaction from an audience.
Trolling to this extent happens more than you might expect and is a real worry for people who put themselves out on the internet as a form of entertainment. Swatting is a form of this kind of a troll and a major concern to streamers and YouTubers.
But this is really dangerous stuff. The safety of others, especially in the case of a school, is always the top priority. Kyle learned this the hardest way possible; I hope others can learn from his dumb mistake.
Kyle has seemed to learn a lot from this experience and did a solid AMA with good answers. I thought it might be good to share some of the best questions and answers from the AMA so others can learn from them. Kyle’s username for the AMA is AnnoyingVoid.
