One evening while making dinner, my roomies and I totally had an old-school Kenny Chesney jam sesh. It has created an entirely new monster in our apartment:
"Do you remember this song?" *cue off-tune melody*
I came to realize that every one of these songs carried a piece of my childhood with it. I figured I'd let you in on a little bit of the fun!
1. "Something Like That" -Tim McGraw
When I was young, my dad came home after working all day belting the lyrics, "I'VE GOT A BARBECUE STAIN ON MY WHITE T-SHIRT!" And this was my first exposure to the wonderfulness that is country music. This song will always hold a special place in my heart.
2. "Mayberry" -Rascal Flatts
At home, my parents have an old Jeep that only makes in out of the garage in the summers. The only CD that has ever been in that vehicle? Rascal Flatt's debut album.
3. "Austin" -Blake Shelton
When I was young, my parents had me convinced that Blake Shelton and I were related because we shared the same last name. Forever and always will I call him Cousin Blake.
4. "Red Ragtop" -Tim McGraw
This one is my all-time favorite song that I actually forgot was even a song.
5. "Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)" -Big & Rich
Any time I'm handed the AUX, my inner farm kid comes out and this is my go to...generally killing the mood unless I'm with my awesome roomies.
6. "Follow Me" -Uncle Kracker
This may not even really be country, but SO GOOD and SO OLD.
7. "Keg in the Closet" -Kenny Chesney
I loved this song in my youth, but nowadays it is literally my ode to college.
8. "Fast Cars And Freedom" -Rascal Flatts
You had to know I wasn't done with Rascal.
9. "Young" -Kenny Chesney
I think this one speaks to all of us.
10. "Walking In Memphis" -Lonestar
A reminder to add "Visit Graceland again" to my bucket-list.
11. "Fishin' in the Dark" -The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Brings my back to late nights back at the pond.
12 "Who I Am" -Jessica Andrews
My mom adores this one - looking at you, Ma.
13. "Beer For My Horses" -Toby Keith ft. Willie Nelson
I was probably singing this before I even knew what alcohol was.
Enjoy your new favorite playlist!
