16 Long Island Food Havens We Love

If you know anyone from Long Island, you know we take our food seriously. If you're looking for good pizza and bagels, just go to Long Island. Growing up in Huntington my whole life, I'm a Long Island girl in and out. You won't be able to argue with me about the superiority of our bakeries, delis and diners. Whether you're out late night with your friends or going out to eat with your family, these are some of the best go-tos. Long Island has a lot of amazing food to offer and these are some of my favorites that can't be beat.

1. First Class Bagels

This bagel and deli joint has been a favorite of mine since as long as I can remember. They have some of the best bagels I've ever had, from plain, everything, French toast, chocolate chip, or a classic bacon, egg and cheese. If you're not in the mood for a bagel (as if) they have bomb chicken cutlet.

2. Toast & Co.

I'm not a morning person, but their crunchy chocolate French toast will get me out of bed any day.

3. Whale's Tale

This restaurant on the water offers some of the best tacos and sunsets on Long Island. It's a hugely popular destination during the summer.

4. Little Vincent's

Famous for their cold cheese slice, this pizza place is always packed no matter what time of day. Even though they only serve pizza, it's well worth it. If you're from Long Island, you've been here.

5. Baja Grill

This small Mexican restaurant is so good and has amazing quesadillas that come with their signature lime sour cream.

6. Munday's

Always decorated for every holiday, this old-fashioned diner is so popular in the village for a reason.

7. The Witches Brew

With a million different coffee and tea options to choose from, this coffee shop is decorated for Halloween year-round and also has amazing desserts.

8. Ralph's Italian Ices

This Long Island staple offers so many different flavors, it's hard to choose which one you want. You know it's starting to get warm again when they open.

9. Prime Steakhouse

On Huntington Harbor, this steakhouse was everyone's go-to for fancy celebrations like high school graduation. The food and the view is always amazing.

10. Ruvo

One of my favorite Italian restaurants. They also have a catering business for all your carb needs.

11. European Republic

Although it may not look it, this small eatery has some of the best wraps and fries around and with over 30 dipping sauces, you'll want to try them all.

12. Diner By the Sea

A classic Long Island diner, famous for their milkshakes.

13. Besito

With amazing margaritas and table-side guacamole, this upscale Mexican restaurant is always busy.

14. Chefs of New York

This pizzeria has amazing mozzarella sticks, garlic knots and specialty slices; basically everything a hungry girl could want.

15. Maureen's Kitchen

Easy to spot with the giant cow outside, you have to get up early for this delicious breakfast/brunch spot.

16. Gosman's Dock Restaurant

In Montauk, this restaurant on the water has the best seafood and not a bad view, either.

Now I'm hungry.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
