16 Fall Activities To Do In Boston

Fall is coming (slowly but surely)! The summer air is leaving us but that only means sweater weather, colorful leaves, and forcing your friends to go apple picking with you. If you're a broke college kid like myself but want to soak up every insta-worthy fall activity possible, here are 16 fall things to do in Boston that aren't too costly.

1. Apple picking is the most fall-tastic thing you could do and there are plenty of orchards around Boston like Brooksby Farm in Peabody.

2. Say it with me... FREE BEER. Brewery tours (if you're 21+) are a great way to taste test Oktoberfest and pumpkin flavored beer. Sam Addams has free tours and Harpoon costs $5.

3. Head to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston to see your favorite animals!

4. Check out the Museum of Fine Arts off the Green line. Student tickets are free.

5. To see the best *fall foliage* take the Orange Line to the Arnold Arboretum for a free self-guided tour.

6. Find your way through a corn maze in Danvers, Ipswich, and more.

7. Because Halloween is right around the corner, what's better than walking on a haunted Boston tour? They run into November but only at night (the scarier, the better).

8. Pick a pumpkin to carve at any of the neighboring patches in North Andover or Stow.

9. Obviously Salem is on the list. The entire town is extra spooky during October and you can visit the Salem Witch Museum to see everything you read about in The Crucible in 10th grade.

10. Rent a bike at any Hubway spot and ride around Boston or along the Charles river.

11. Go for a hike! I suggest Blue Hills because there's a spot you can see the whole Boston skyline.

12. Coolidge Corner Theatre's Halloween Horror Movie Marathon is an all day scary movie event for those who thrive off fear and adrenaline.

13. Halloween bar crawls are the best way to get your drink on while sporting your best costume.

14. Go to one of many pumpkin festivals in the Boston Common and the Seaport.

15. Travel back into the Renaissance era and visit King Richard's Faire.

16. Skim through your Pinterest feed for the best fall recipes and bake your little heart out.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
