Hey you.

At this point, you have just finished your freshman year of high school. You think that was a good year? Well, sadly the rest of high school is not going to be like that.

Your best friend you would hang out with? You guys drifted apart sophomore year and she ended up causing drama for you down the line. Sad, I know.

You end up making some really good friends senior year. It was a group of them. You felt like you belonged, a feeling that you yearned for ever since elementary school. They stabbed you in the back. Something you never thought would happen. It's a shame that it happened, but thankfully, you learned.

You never really got that feeling back, but you do end up making a friend who lives all the way in the Netherlands. She's your best friend, and you will realize how much she means to you. She was there at your worst and surely your best. Maybe she's all you need.

You know that guy that you liked since middle school? Give up on him, he doesn't like you back. He never really gave you the time of day anyway.

There will be plenty of guys that you end up liking who, like him, will not really give you the time of day. There will be guys too, who will string you along, and then eventually drop you like you're nothing. You don't deserve that at all. Be patient though, because you will find someone, and trust me, you are happy as ever.

Regarding your small little family. Tragedy strikes when your mom is diagnosed with breast cancer. It was something that none of you expected at all. It was a long, painful journey, but you three are strong and got through it.

Years later, she ends up in the hospital for a week, she ended up having a problem with her gall bladder and needed it to be removed. Seeing her in the hospital bed in pain breaks your heart, but you need to stay strong.

Sophomore year was pretty bad for you. You fall into a deep depression, not wanting to deal with the world at all. It got the point where you want to end it all.

Don't.

You have a great life ahead of you. The next five years are going to be a wild ride, but get on and enjoy it.

From,

Yourself in Five Years

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
