If you're like me, you spend a lot of time procrastinating on my homework. While I do not recommend procrastination at all, *cue stressed whimper* if you feel taking a break and enjoying all that the internet has to offer, these are some of the most time-consuming and enjoyable ones that I've found!
1. Overdrive
This app is awesome for those of you who love to read but don't feel like carrying around a book all the time. It's similar to Kindle, except you don't have to buy your books. It's like a library in the palm of your hand!
2. Duolingo
For those of you who are interested in learning a new language but don't have money to take classes, Duolingo has got you covered. It has many different language options and also lets you do a lesson a day if you want to.
3. Instructables
Looking for a new DIY project to sink your teeth into? Look no further than Instructables. This website is user-created and uploaded and has some pretty nifty projects to try. It even has classes you can sign up for!
4. BuzzFeed
Oh BuzzFeed, how I love you. Not only does BuzzFeed have all the latest celebrity gossip (I'm personally a sucker for it, tbh), but the quizzes are some of my favorite pastimes. Of course I need to know which kind of cheese matches my personality!
5. sanger.dk
Just look it up. You'll be glad you did. <3 #dogs
6. goodtricks.net
Magic is cool and will always be cool. This site has all different kinds of tricks, such as card tricks and even levitation tricks. Neat-o!
7. Iwastesomuchtime.com
Memes, jokes, videos. The url says it all.
8. StumbleUpon
I randomly stumbled (get it?) across this website one day, and it supplied me with such joy! The concept is pretty simple. First, pick some things you're interested in. Hit Stumble. You will be redirected to a random website on the internet that has to do with the subjects you like. If you like what you see, hit thumbs up. If not, thumbs down. It uses this tracking to show you more of what you like and less of what you don't. Cool beans right?
9. Free Rice
This website is run by the United Nations World Food Programme and is a simple way to give back. You answer trivia questions, and for each correct answer Free Rice donates 10 grains of rice to help end world hunger. You can educate yourself and help the world. How cool right!?
10. NASA
The NASA website has so much to offer! It has NASA TV, which shows you live coverage of launches and walks. It has photos that show planets and even an image of the day. It also has articles that can update you on what NASA is up to lately. Even if you're not a space nerd (such as myself), you can most likely find something to interest you on this website.
11. Cleverbot
I regrettably admit how much time I spent on this website as a teenager. Cleverbot is an artificial intelligence chatterbox application. You can say whatever you want to it, and it will respond. It learns more the more you say, so play on this website at your own risk. I don't recommend it for younger people.
12. Ancestry
This website costs money, but it has a free trial option that you could use to get a feel if you're interested in it or not. Ancestry has many features, but the most popular one is it enables you to search a database and build your family tree.
13. Letters of Note
I only recently discovered this website, but it is so intriguing! This is a blog-based archive of different letters that people find interesting. If you enjoy this website, there is also Lists of Note!
14. OpenPuppies
The URL is pretty self-explanatory, but the website is literally just gifs of dogs. What more could you need? I don't mind to admit I've spent many hours on this website. #dogsarelife
15. Odyssey
*Shameless plug* I've saved the best for last! Odyssey is a great place to read articles that mean something. Every article we write is a piece of us. You could even read your own article on there someday!
I don't mean to encourage your procrastination, but sometimes it's good to take a break from your work and have fun. Enjoy these websites! :)
