15 Thoughts Every Harry Potter Fan Has Had

Harry Potter is a lifestyle choice that many have chosen for themselves, myself included. I have all the books (multiple copies) that I read every summer, I’ve seen all the movies, and I even have a tattoo dedicated to it. And because it’s such a huge part of my life, I find myself having some intrusive thoughts every day, all about the series. Now, I know I’m not alone in having these, or at least that others will get a chuckle out of them, so here are 15 thoughts that every Harry Potter fan has had before:

1. "This wouldn't happen to Harry Potter..."

But let’s face it… Whatever it is, it probably would happen to Harry Potter. The kid’s got the worst luck.

2. “I don’t feel like getting up. Do you think I can accio my phone over to myself?”

3. “Life would be so much easier if I could apparate.”

And so much cheaper than cars and planes.

4. “Oh my freaking god, this professor is worse than Umbridge.”

5. “How is it Harry defeated Voldemort when he was an infant and yet I’m in my 20’s and I can barely make spaghetti?”

6. “Y’know, GIFs are just like wizard photographs, so, really, we’re that much closer to living in the same world as Harry Potter.”

7. “Do you think if I went to Hogwarts I would actually do my homework?”

Probably not, but I like to dream.

8. “Why did Dumbledore send first years that got detention into the Forbidden Forest where they literally could have died? Why does he love chaos?”

9. “I wonder how many students the moving staircases injure per year.”

And the giant three-headed dog, and the giant squid in the Black Lake...Hogwarts was really such a dangerous school.

10. “Wait...did this person just say that their favorite movie was the third? Abort the conversation, ABORT!”

12. "Is it possible to havetoo much Harry Potter merchandise?”

I currently have 18 shirts, a pair of leggings, a jacket, three scarves, and a ton of jewelry, but I don’t have a problem.

12. “What should I do when I graduate--go backpacking through Europe or go to Wizarding World of Harry Potter?”

Is it sad that I’m leaning more toward Wizarding World?

13. “Do you ever just think about the tragic love and life of Lily and James Potter and start crying?”

14. “I’m sorry, did you just say you haven’t read the books?”

I’m not judging you (too much), but...why do you hate happiness?

15. “Why doesn’t everyone know every single thing that has ever happened in Harry Potter like I do?”

The world would just be a much better place.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
