There is nothing more proving of hard work than the feeling of being brain dead. Every college student knows the feeling. You're studying for that exam and all you can think about is how Cheez-its are made. The content you are covering doesn't even matter anymore. Your brain is fried. So before getting too deep into the semester, take these tips for recovering from the sizzle.

1. GTFO

TAKE A BREAK. Get out. Breathe. Stop cramming. It will only get worse from here.

2. Workout

Sweat the stress away. This one isn't my preferred method -- I would rather sit and watch the Kardashian's while eating a dozen Krispy Kreams -- but hey, do what brings you relaxation.

3. Read

Throw that $250 textbook out the window (just kidding of course), and read a SiFi or some Nicholas Sparks. Whatever gets Probability & Statistics out of your head.

4. Netflix

Not for hours, and not a whole season. But if you happen to start "Stranger Things," by all means, watch the whole thing in one sitting...Just saying. #RIPBarb

5. Music

Some nice 80s pop, a little acoustic, maybe some jammin' 00s hits. AND DANCE PARTY. Move around. Get the blood flowing.

6. Shower

When in doubt, shower. Sit in the steam for 20 minutes -- no, don't worry about your roommate. She can wait.

7. Eat

Go get some ice cream, try that new Asian restaurant, make that BuzzFeed Tasty recipe that's been popping up on Facebook for the last month.

8. Get crafty

Draw, paint, write, your right brain! Even if you don't think you're creative, give it a try!

9. Do laundry or dishes

It's a neverending cycle of life. There are always chores to be done. #death

10. Sleep

Take a nap. You won't want to get up, but you deserve to let you brain process information!

11. Find a new favorite study spot

Your brain may need a change of scenery to absorb new information! It's like a scavenger hunt!

12. Pinterest

A go-to! Pinterest satisfies all of my obsessions: weddings, movies, memes, etc.

13. Call your Mom

You don't call enough. Admit it.

14. Contemplate changing your major

You will look into every credit that transfers, how many points you can miss, how many classes you can sleep through and may even email your counselor.

And when in doubt...

15. Cry

Tears. They solve nothing. But feel great.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
