Every year my family hosts Thanksgiving Day at our house, which consists of getting up at the crack of dawn to start the insane food preparation.

After about an hour or two in, I find myself barking for the food to be ready, so I can only imagine what it's like for dogs. And if your dog is anything like mine, then I'm sure they won't stop shouting until they get their own fixing of turkey and stuffings. Here are 15 Thanksgiving Day must-tries that you're not going to want to miss out on this year:

15. Two Potato Gratin

Because you can't beat the classics.

14. Orange Bourbon Cranberry Sauce

Yes, you can have your bourbon and eat it too.

13. Dark Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

No matter how cute your dog is, they simply can't have a slice of this chocolately goodness. But hey, more for you.

12. Green Bean Casserole With Fried Shallots

You and your pooch will thank me later for this one.

11. Pumpkin Pie With Maple Whipped Cream & Pumpkin Seed Brittle

Can you say maple-kissed?

10. Skillet Cornbread

Looking for a twist? Add full pieces of corn into the mix before cooking!

9. Honey Maple Roasted Carrots

An instant crowd-pleaser.

8. Baked Rosemary Mushroom Polenta

Def a must try!

7. Roasted Brussels Sprouts & Squash With Dried Cranberries & Dijon Vinaigrette

And people think brussels sprouts are boring - psh!

6. Mashed Potatoes With Fried Onions & Bacon Bits

Everyone's favorite classic with a twist.

5. Butternut Squash & Andouille Stuffing

Who says you can't have more than one batch of stuffing on your Thanksgiving Day menu?

4. Twice-Baked Sweet Potatoes With Bacon, Brown Sugar & Marshmallows

Whoever said sweets before dinner ruins your appetite was sadly mistaken. Sweets with your meal is the way to live.

3. Wild Mushroom Gravy

Get your veggie on.

2. Maple Glazed Turkey

Every taste of fall all in one entrée.

1. Caramelized Onion Stuffing With Apples & Sage

Add a whole new depth of flavor to your Thanksgiving Day table with this one.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
