15 Short Prayers To Strengthen Your Relationship With God

Finding time to strengthen your relationship with God is not as difficult as it may seem. Whether you're walking to class or doing homework in the library, even a few words to God can be stepping stones that build a path to a greater relationship with Him.

God doesn't mind if your prayers are eloquent and wordy. He wants genuine thoughts that are meaningful and intentional, not the product of a broken record. Substance is to authenticity as length is to habit.

1. The overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.

Yes, songs are prayers.

And God's love is so abundant and pure, it deserves all of our praise.

2. Thank you for today.

Remember that every day is a gift, not a privilege.

3. Give me strength.

Even when you are strong, God is stronger. And when you're not, He still remains.

4. I know You will provide.

It's useless to worry about money, friendships, or literally anything. God knows what you need, just let Him bless you. You don't have to handle everything on your own.

5. You're a good Father.

He deserves all of the praise. Literally all of it. Even in the hard times, He is so so good.

6. I trust you.

You are certainly going to go through your share of hardships, especially ones that you don't fully understand. Remember that even when you don't, God does.

7. Spirit, lead me.

Sometimes we need some guidance to get where He knows we need to be.

8. I surrender.

You have to be able to give up your entire life to Him.

Fill in the blank: "If it wasn't for _______, I could give my whole self to Jesus."

Take that thing, that thing that is your idol, and give it up to Him.

One prayer at a time.

9. Soften my heart.

You have to let God in. He wants to help you... sometimes you have to let him.

10. I love you.

As said by Jason Gray,

"It's gotta be more like falling in love
Than something to believe in
More like losing my heart
Than giving my allegiance…"

It's more than empty words. It's about putting in the time and energy to fall in love with Him.

11. You say...

Think of all of the things God says about you. Ultimately, you are his.

Lauren Daigle writes:

"You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don't belong, oh You say that I am Yours"

12. Glory to glory.

It is to continually be changed into what you were created to be. It is to be conformed to His likeness. It is increasing in the character and nature of God

13. Surprise me.

Sounds kind of silly, huh? This prayer strengthens your trust in the Lord. No matter what God surprises God sends your way, you should praise Him.

14. Be with me.

When life is overwhelming and unbearable, just ask Him to stand by you. Even when it feels like you're alone, the Holy Spirit is always with you. Pray this to show God that you choose him and want Him just as much as he chooses and wants you.

15. Your will be done.

My personal favorite. This has gotten me through the worst moments in life.

Everything He does is in your best interest, even if it doesn't feel like it. He only wants the very best for you. What you think is best is completely different from what God knows is right.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
