In college, you'll meet a lot of new people with vastly different personalities. Here are some staples that you're bound to meet sooner than later as told by the cast of Shameless (Seasons 1- 3.)

1. Fiona - The Mom Friend

She's the girl that knows how to have a good time but also knows when to rally the troops and get everyone home safe. She's a natural leader and is sure to know your class schedule and wake you up because you forgot and almost slept in.

2. Lip - The Incredibly Smart Slacker

He's the guy that's incredibly smart but also incredibly unmotivated. He's the guy that doesn't show up to class because he's already smarter than the professor and it's not worth his time to show up.

3. Ian - The ROTC Guy

You never see him not in uniform. He wakes up at the crack of dawn to train and he also manages to go to class and still have a social life.

4. Debbie - The Planner

Similar to the Mom Friend, she always has her ducks in a row. She always has a planner in her has her day planned out the night before from the minute she wakes up until when she falls asleep. If things stray from her schedule, watch out.

5. Carl - The Delinquent

He's the boy that you stay away from. He parties all night and sleeps all day and he's always up to no good.

6. Frank - The Deadbeat

He's the one that you wonder why he's even at college. He skips every class and never does his homework. He drinks like a fish and he's always asking you for money.

7. Monica - The Fair Weather Friend

She's the girl that's there when there's a party or something fun going on, but as soon as there's a problem she disappears. You don't want her in your life.

*NO PICTURE BECAUSE SHE'S NEVER AROUND*

8. Shelia - The Nervous Wreck

She's clearly never been away from her mom longer than two days. You never catch her out of her dorm unless she's going to class and she goes home every single weekend.

9. Karen - The Yes Girl

She's the girl that's always down for anything. Party on a Tuesday? She's there. Pizza at 2 am? She'll buy. No matter the situation she's always down for a good time. Also the girl with FOMO or the girl who will do anything for the story.

10. Mickey - The Bully

You thought you left bullies back in high school, but nope they still exist and he's one of them. Although you may find out he's not as hard as he seems.

11. Mandy - The Girl That Always Gets Played

No matter what she does, she always falls for a player and gets hurt. You pity her because she has such good heart but such a terrible taste in men.

12. Jimmy - The Lovable Frat Boy

Yes he's in a frat, but no, he's not the worst. He's a super nice guy and he'll do anything for his brothers and his other friends. He's also a legacy and he's at college on daddy's dime. He's the friend that will drive you where you need to go and will always pay for food.

13. Ethel - The Fish Out of Water

She tried to tell her parents that she wanted to commute, but they made her give college a try. She'll make a few friends after a while, but she'll still transfer her second semester.

14. V - The Responsible Party Girl

She's always down for a good time yet she still manages to do really well in all of her classes. She has the best of both worldsand if she was a superhero her power would be balance.

15. Kev - Your Best Friend

He's the one that will always help you out in a bind no matter what. He's the guy with all the answers and may seem like he's not affctionate, but at the end of the day he'd do anything for his friends. You need him on your team.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead.
