15 Female Fads That Lost Their Hype

Should we bring some of these back?

The 2000's have held such great memories for us all. Since I have been around I have witnessed quite a few fads live up to greatness and then die out. I am pretty certain I participated in the obsession with each and every one of these fads.

1. Distressed Ripped Jeans

Everyone loved a good flare jean, that is until skinny's came in style.

2. Silly Bandz

If you don't remember these, I'm ashamed. Seriously! The packaging says it all. I remember trading people for cooler bands.

3. Hair Feathers

I never really understood this one, but this was seriously THE in thing of its time. That is until schools started banning them, anything to take away individuality.

4. Feather Earrings

5. Marble Nails

Maybe you still do this. This was way too time consuming, but the end product was always fabulous, unless you sucked at it like I did.

6. Potato Shoes

Why did we wear this atrocious things. They weren't even comfortable either, unless they were broken in. Other that that, WHY?

7. Vibrant Peekaboo Streaks

I think all us girls probably wanted a colored streak at some time.

8. Thin Eyebrows

I envy people who have been able to come back from this awful fad. I have had the hardest time getting fuller eyebrows. Now eyebrows are a deal breaker. UGH.

9. Uggs

I'm pretty sure every girl in my Jr. High had a pair of these. Different styles are still popular, but they aren't nearly what they use to be. Plus, knock offs have kind of replaced these overpriced boots.

10. Crimped Hair

Not just any crimped hair either. The fluffy, teased, blowout.

11. Crocs

These were comfortable and even came in all different styles and colors, but now they're just a complete fashion don't.

12. Chunky Streaks

Guilty as charged. I lived for chunked colors in my hair half way into high school. Why did I allow this for so long?

13. Peace Signs

Over using the peace sign in all of your photos was super popular. Then "fierce" took over, hang loose, then the rock on sign. It's a never ending cycle.

14. Sweat Suit Outfits

Sweat suit outfits were really in. The jackets were a must, and the velvet sweat outfits? Don't even get me started. Being that matchy, matchy, though just shouldn't be a thing.

15. Thick Side Bangs

I think many, many of us went through this stage. The big bangs were totally bangin'.

I sit here and seriously wonder why the heck we still don't obsess over some of these, maybe we need to bring some of them back!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
