Capricorn season is finally upon us! That means anyone celebrating a birthday from December 21 through January 19 has one common goal in mind: world domination. Just kidding...kinda...but only because I know that Capricorns, like all members of a zodiac sign, are a diverse group of people. However, there are some traits you’ll find in every Capricorn regardless of who they are, where they come from, what they look like, etc. (the need for world domination just happens to be one of those traits).

  1. We don’t let our guard down easily.

This is why it’s so hard to get close to a Capricorn and probably why we come off so cold.

2. Setbacks make us very, VERY angry.

Don't quote me on this, but I’m pretty sure that doing anything that will ruin a Capricorn’s progress is the 8th deadly sin.

3. But we need to do things at our own pace or else we’ll get stressed.

4. We always have to win.

Mark my words, we will do WHATEVER to get to where we want to be.

5. Since we don’t have actual feelings, we feel obligated to take care of yours.

6. Lame excuses really suck.

I’m not saying our definition for a “lame excuse” is the same as yours, but no Capricorn is about to take “I’m sick” for an answer for the third time this week.

7. We also hate cancelled plans.

Again, unless somebody died, you’re dying, or you’re stuck on a desert island with no way of getting to where your Capricorn friend needs you to be. And actually, nevermind about the desert island thing. You can swim.

8. We never sugarcoat anything.

9. We’re petty AF, even if some of us aren't up front about it.

...so forgive and forget isn’t really a thing.

10. We have this thing with commitment where we like it but it's really scary, too.

It's weird and I'm sorry but you just gotta be patient with us

11. We’re ridiculously stubborn.

'nuff said.

12. Our sense of humor is pretty messed up.

13. OUR BRAINS RUN IN ALL CAPS.

14. Cold as we seem, we’re really afraid of being alone.

Deep down each of us knows we can’t live without our people.

15. We’re insanely ambitious people and will, one day, run the world.

Mark my words.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
