I won't lie to you. I was one of them. One out of the hundreds of thousands of girls who straight jammed to the Jonas Brothers from the very first time I heard them on Disney Channel (in what I believe was a video for the remake of the song "Poor Unfortunate Souls"from "The Little Mermaid"), to their live concerts, to their "Camp Rock" days, to their failed attempt at keeping it in the family once they reached adulthood and developed separate interests.
Though my love for the JoBros was far more mellow than the love (err, infatuation) I expressed for 1D when they came around (oh, the joys of being an adolescent girl), I still like to listen to some of their songs from time to time and found, to my delight, that loads of their songs are relatable, and not just for middle school me, but also for me now, in college. I know, I was shocked too, and maybe it was just the post-finals delirium that messed up my brainwaves, but whatever it was that brought me here, I now present to you my findings: that the Jonas Brothers, despite never graduating college, knew a thing or two about the modern day college experience.
1. "First Time"
When you walk into freshman year with no clue what to expect living on your own for the, well, first time.
2. "Burnin' Up"
When you move into your very much non-air-conditioned dorm room in August and become acutely aware that you are melting into a pile of sweaty limbs.
3. "When You Look Me in the Eyes"
When you mistakenly make eye contact with your teacher at the wrong time and they call on you even though you are clearly clueless and ill-prepared.
4. "S.O.S."
When you’re having an extremely awkward encounter with someone and trying to signal your friends to come save you -- please, anyone.
5. "Paranoid"
When your RA walks into your room and you’re not entirely sure that everything that needs to be hidden is in fact, hidden.
6. "What I Go to School For"
When you remember that there is an end to this charmed college existence, and one day you're going to graduate and have to get a real job (cries).
7. "Goodnight and Goodbye"
When someone tries to get a little too friendly
with you after a night out and you’re 100 percent on a different page.
