If it's your first year or your fourth year, these tips are still super helpful for surviving college. Whether or not you think you're the college mastermind, or you plan on just spit-balling it for your first week, don't put yourself above needing anything listed below. Following tips 1-14 are a sure fire way to starting yourself off on the right foot this school year!

Thank me later!

  1. Try to map out where your classes are before it’s time to leave for them.
  2. Plan on having lunch with a friend. You’ll have time to vent and plan a little before life hits you in the face.
  3. Don’t throw your syllabus out.
  4. Actually talk to your professors. Introduce yourself and establish a good professional relationship.
  5. Try to reschedule that 8am if you can.
  6. Reach out to your adviser and make it clear that they know who you are and what track you’re on.
  7. Make plans with friends to do something. Don’t sit inside all day long.
  8. Wear comfortable shoes on the first day. You could get a lost a bunch so I’m sure you’d rather walk around forever in free runs instead of wedges.
  9. Don’t talk about who you were/what you did in high school.
  10. Talk to your family back home but learn to distance yourself a little.
  11. Try to learn more about the people you live with and make a real effort to hang out.
  12. Try to actually wake up in time to eat breakfast.
  13. Ask somebody if you need help
  14. Have fun. College can be the best or worst four years of your life. You get what you put into it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
