We all know and love Seth Cohen from The O.C., but have we ever really appreciated what he has to offer? He is definition of an NJB (Nice Jewish Boy), and girls should look for Seth's traits when they are on the hunt for the perfect man.
1. He's not afraid to admit how he really feels.
In Season 1, episode 19, Seth realizes he wants to start a relationship with Summer, and after years of pining for her, he finally tells her how he truly feels about her.
2. He has great pick-up lines.
In this episode, Seth and Summer decorate Marissa's new room in her new home, and although they aren't the most handy people, they are definitely the best with one-liners.
3. He knows exactly what every girl wants to eat for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, or preferably, every day of the week. PSA: Sandy Cohen will even teach you how to properly "shmeer" your cream cheese.
The Cohens enjoy their bagels every morning before getting their days started. In this scene, Seth tries to bribe Ryan to come to the house so that he can get his daily dose of Summer advice, and doesn't have to walk outside in the rain (he's from California and he'll melt if he walks outside in this weather). In another episode in which Marissa had to say goodbye to her dad, Ryan and Seth insist she join them for breakfast, which is, of course, bagels. Sandy then shows her how good he is at "shmeering" cream cheese on the bagels.
4. He isn't afraid to fight for his ladies in public, even if there's a chance it won't end up in his favor.
Summer has been keeping her relationship with Seth a secret because she is popular and Seth, well, isn't. In this episode, Summer volunteers to run a school kissing booth, but Seth has had enough of the hiding and ignoring. He stands up on the kissing booth in front of the whole school, professes his love for summer, and gives her the above ultimatum.
5. He's the best date for the Cotillion Ball because he has killer dance moves.
In Season 1, episode 4, Seth tries to get Summer's attention with his excellent ballroom dancing skills.
6. He perfectly reenacts iconic movie scenes.
The episode The Rainy Day Women is definitely a fan favorite. After a long time apart, our favorite couple, Seth and Summer, finally reunite, and do so with this heartwarming kiss.
7. His bromances are just as important to him as his love life.
Seth's relationship with Ryan is just as valuable to him as his relationship with Summer is. Though they are not blood related, they treat each other as if they are brothers, and it's the most adorable bromance on television.
8. He's all for co-existing.
With his mother being Catholic and his father being Jewish, Seth combined Christmas and Hanukkah when he was younger, and created the holiday we all know and love, Chrismukkah. He claims that the holiday "sweeps the nation."
9. He's not afraid to try new things.
In this episode, Seth is interested in a bad girl named Alex who works at the same night club that Seth has just been hired at. They kissed, but Alex said he was too nice for her, and she doesn't go for nice guys. So, he goes into the pool house to try to cop up some of Ryan's "bad boy" wardrobe; a wife beater, the choker Ryan used to wear in Season 1, and even his wrist cuff.
10. His social situation assessments are on point.
Seth is definitely one for sarcasm, but he does try his best in social situations he may not be comfortable in.
11. He knows how to properly keep promises.
Who doesn't love a guy that actually kisses his hand after making a pinky promise?
12. I mean, c'mon, just look at how he dresses.
Polo shirts, sweater vests, and ugly Christmas sweaters are just a few things you will find in Seth's closet; the typical Jewish boy wardrobe. And just look at that smile; makes your heart melt, doesn't it?
13. He even has the generic Jewfro and makes the occasional comparison to Screech's Jewfro in Saved By The Bell.
Seth's right; humidity does make the Jewfro bigger.
14. He knows the true meaning of all holidays (especially Thanksgiving).
Seth dreams about Thanksgiving a lot, and he's not afraid to address the elephant in the room and reveal why we all actually love Thanksgiving.
15. He will always admit when he's made mistakes.
It's okay Seth, we will always forgive you. Always.
16. He has practical solutions to problems.
Okay, maybe not the most practical, but definitely the most funny, which brings us to reason 17.
17. He's always there for the comic relief.
I know it, you know it, we all know it. He is easily the only one who can brighten the mood on the show, or squeeze in a comical line when it is completely inappropriate.
18. He makes great movie references.
After an awkward encounter with Summer in Season 1, Seth describes how he felt to Ryan with this wonderful Disney reference.
19. He will always be there to comfort you.
Seth's been there for Summer since the beginning. Whether she was with that annoying kid Danny or the other comic book lover Zach, Seth stuck around to simply be her friend. He has always been there for Summer and always will be. But, we'll still be rooting for this dynamic duo on the sidelines.
Summer is able to precisely sum up why Seth is the definition of the Nice Jewish Boy we all want to know and marry. He is perfect husband material and she is one lucky girl.
