It's not a phase, Mom.

Back in middle school, we all went through the grunge phase. You know, lots of black, emotions running amuck, no one understands you, pre-teen and teen angst, etc. Some of us only stayed in this state of mind for a few months and others have accepted it as a permanent part of our personality. In my opinion, these are a few of the most notable bands from that time and definitely bring back memories.

1. My Chemical Romance

You’re lying if you say "Welcome to the Black Parade" was not your jam. It was everyone’s jam, whether they admit it or not.

2. Rise Against

I remember when I first heard their song, "Savior," it was number two on iTunes alternative list.

3. Fall Out Boy

This is my band. Back then and still today.

4. Panic! At The Disco

All of their songs are great songs. And if you haven’t heard their newest album, you need to. Like, right now.

5. Blink-182

They will always be relevant.

6. Mayday Parade

This is one of the first bands I ever listened to and they still hold a special place in my heart.

7. Falling in Reverse

Me too, Ronnie, me too.

8. Paramore

Hayley Williams was my idol.

9. Green Day

"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" was the song you probably listened to when your mom kept telling you this was a phase and you felt like no one would ever understand you.

10. Linkin Park

You know you turn the volume way up when "Numb" comes on the radio. You know you do.

11. Bullet for My Valentine

They have some of the best songs in my opinion.

12. Avenged Sevenfold

My fourteen-year-old self definitely played their CD's every chance I got.

13. Three Days Grace

Wanting to actually start a riot after you listened to the song "Riot."

14. A Day To Remember

My older brother introduced me to these guys and I can say that they are definitely one of my favorite bands of all time.

Of course, there are many more of these kinds of bands and this type of music that came out around this time, but these guys shaped our middle school grunge days. Even though I don’t always listen to these guys on a daily basis and I have expanded my music preferences, these guys definitely were my first music favorites and will always be on my playlist.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
