Denver, Colorado is changing and growing every day. This city is vibrant, full of life and has plenty of activities for all ages. The city is home to a thriving art and theater scene, outdoor activities, bars and restaurants, and a variety of other hidden gems. Here are 13 underrated places to add to the list of things to see and do in Denver, Colorado.

1. Punch Bowl Social.

This hidden gem on Broadway is a foodie’s paradise. The menu is unique, but the atmosphere is what makes the spot so unique. Punch Bowl Social has a variety of board games, darts, bowling and karaoke. You can eat and drink while playing games with friends and family.

2. D-Bar.

This spot offers breakfast, coffee, lunch specials and DESSERT. If you go, try and sit at the dessert bar and you can watch the desserts being prepared. Not to mention, they have an amazing happy hour.

3. Euro Crepes.

This hidden gem is located off Broadway and is home to the best crepes in Denver. The whole menu is based on European cities and attractions. They offer sweet and savory. Not to mention, the management and employees are amazing!

4. Torchy’s Tacos.

Unique. Cheap. Amazing. Tacos. No explanation needed.

5. Mercury Cafe.

This spot is all about music, dance, theater and poetry. They host a wide spread of events from poetry slams to open mic nights. They also do swing dancing nights!

6. Hey PB&J.

This is the ultimate food truck. This fun, jam-colored truck serves gourmet peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The menu offers a range of sweet, savory and spicy items.

7. Sam’s #3 Diner.

This diner located in the heart of Denver has a wide menu with a variety of options and has an old time diner feel.

8. Denver Public Market.

This up-and-coming market offers a variety of goods from coffee to pastries to meat and groceries. The times I have been, the venue is hosting local musicians and live music.

9. Corvus Coffee.

This is one of the highest quality coffee shops in Denver! If you are looking for a relaxing environment and a GREAT cup of coffee, Corvus is your place.

10. The Brown Palace.

Not only is the historical landmark a hotel in itself, but also home to the infamous afternoon tea. Here you can indulge in a classic British tea time with scones and tea.

11. Denver Botanical Gardens.

This distinct spot is home to a variety of gardens that host sculptures and art throughout them. You can pack a picnic and some wine and head into the gardens for a fun evening.

12. Washington Park.

Whether you want to go for a run, have a picnic or go out onto the water, Washington Park is your place. You can rent out water bikes or roam around the park and have a picnic.

13. Bonnie Brae.

This old-fashioned ice cream parlor offers a wide variety of unique ice cream flavors. Flavors include Kahlua & cream, mocha Oreo, deep-dish apple pie, lemon custard, rum raisin, peach pie and pumpkin pecan.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
