13 Things You'll Understand If You've Ever Worked At McDonalds
Business Insider

Ah, McDonald's - maybe your first job, your current job, or the job you wish you would have never had. After spending 2 years working for this fast food company, here are just a few observations I had amidst spilled shakes, grill burns, and so SO much grease:

1. You're used to telling customers that the ice cream machine is broken.

"Hi, I'd like to order a vanilla cone."

"I'm sorry, our ice cream machine is down today."

*customer swears under their breath and promptly exits the drive-thru at a rapid speed.

2. You permanently smell like french fries - clothes, hair, skin, everything.

3. You are used to apologizing for making the wrong sandwich.

Plain Big Mac with a seedless bun, ketchup on the middle patty, and one pickle on the side - why?

4. Few things are worse than the people who ask for fresh fries but then complain about having to wait for the fries to cook.

5. You have to hit the gym more than anyone you know.

No one turns down free food, even if it's a whole basket of overdone French fries.

6. Cleaning the bathrooms never gets any easier.

7. You have a stash of extra McCafe drinks hidden in the freezer.

Let's be honest, have you really worked at McDonald's if you haven't "accidentally" made a medium frappe into a large?

8. There's a special hatred in your heart for the people who order salt-free fries.

It's like they're trying to be healthy...at a fast food restaurant.

9. You have seen things that no human ever hopes to see.

10. Lunch break means you can order whatever you want and customize it however you want.

I'll take a triple quarter pounder with grilled mushrooms, double swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, extra pickles, onions, bacon and mayo.

11. Your life consists of constantly trying to perfect the soft-serve cone swirl.

12. You actually DON'T "flip burgers" for a living.

The grill cooks them in 30 seconds, no flipping needed.

13. As much as you hate the greasy air, rude customers, and lack of air conditioning, there really is something special (and unforgettable) about working at this place.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
